Hi there!
I don’t see any posts on your site currently. Do you have another site that you need help with?
-
I haven’t posted anything yet on thejalepeno.com, but when I do, I’d like to have the posts aligned to the left. Is there a way I can do this?
-
There is, but its easier to set this type of thing up when there’s an example to work off of.
I took a look at the demo for Tonal:
https://tonaldemo.wordpress.com/
And it looks like centered titles with left aligned text is already the default. Is there something there you want to change?
-
if you look at thejalepeno now… you’ll see “Welcome” is centered…can I get that title (and all other post titles) aligned to the left, and smaller font?

Here’s some code you can use to affect the page titles on your site:
.entry-title { max-width: 680px; margin: 0 auto; text-align: left; font-size: 1em; } -

That’s going to be a bit more complicated since its tied in with the browser width and you’ll need to use media queries. Since this is a more complicated request, can you post over in our CSS forum:

Also, here are some resources for learning CSS :
You can find some more CSS resources here:

Hi – I’m trying to verify my site with google webmasters tools… can you advise on how to do this? I’ve gone in to the tools page through my wordpress account, and put in the verification code from google, but it still will not verify.
Thanks!

Sure! We have a guide for using Google Webmaster Tools here:

Pay particular attention to step #4 to make sure you’re grabbing the correct code. Let me know if you still have trouble with that. :)

Google has a complicated algorithm to determine which sites to show on a given search. All of the suggestions I gave you above should help with the ranking of your blog. Here’s a basic breakdown of what Google looks for:

We handle one and two for you, we notify of Google of every blog and update and make sure that everything is indexable. The best way to gain traffic is to keep your site and blog up to date with good useful content, which I see that you do.
Here’s another great post detailing what we do to put your site in search engines and debunking some common myths about SEO. Towards the bottom are some great tips for increasing your Search Engine Results Page rank:
A couple of other suggestions I have would be utilizing WordPress.com’s community. Focusing your tags and participating in the Weekly Challenges over on The Daily Post could also increase traffic to your site, which will in turn help your site ranking.
