adding text to oxygens showcase theme
-
Is anyone clever?
I have the showcase theme in oxygen and have take off the articles……… Does anyone know a clever way of adding main text and a heading to the page using css?
This is the only page I want to look like a webpage not a blogging page.
See where I’ve got to: http://www.thesecretinvestor.co.ukThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You could put the text into a text widget and then position and resize the text widget over and into the space under the slider. Same would be true for the “heading.”

Another quicky since you are an absolute whizz, I have three widget boxes in place but under each other (one left one centre and one right).
I want them to display in a horizontal line but I can’t find which div or class to put them under so it works (then would I say display:inline-block; ?)
Thanks again :)

I checked http://thesecretinvestor.co.uk/ and I see three blocks on the page which are already in a horizontal line so it appears you have figured out the answer to your question.

Hi,
Yes I’m trying! I’m moving all the widgets individually, but I’m not sure whether they all will look in a line in all browsers.
Fingers crossed!

Hi,
Can anybody please help me, because I really don’t know what to do. I want to use the showcase theme from Oxygen, but I don’t understand the description from WordPress. It’s probably very simple, but I did not find that simple way yet. It is for the blog raysdailyroutine.com.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Raymondhomoet,
Try this link on you tube, it will walk you through it, any problems just ask. Buy the way did you know if you go into settings> general you can put spaces in your title, so it reads ‘Rays daily routine’.

@raymondhomoet
Please be aware that tutorial applies to the WordPress.ORG version of the Oxygen theme. It does not apply to the version we have adapted to run on WordPress.COM software.

Sure. First, you need to setup a static front page in order to use the showcase template on the Oxygen theme. Here’s how:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/Then edit the page you selected as the front page and look for the “Page Attributes” settings. Select “Showcase Page” under the “Template” setting and save changes. Here is a related support page about page attributes if you need help with that part:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/Find a post that you’d like to have appear in the featured image slider on the Oxygen showcase page. Edit that post and make sure it has a featured image that is at least 750 pixels wider or bigger. Here’s more info about how to add featured images:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/Last step, make the post you just edited sticky:

I can’t get my page to stretch to accomodate my text widget.
I’m not completely sure what you mean here, could you please try describing this in a bit more detail and use specifics such as the text widget title or the first part of the content in it?

Second, problem my arrows on my slider look ok on the site but are too low on the iphone view.
I checked http://thesecretinvestor.co.uk/ on the default browser on my iPhone (Safari) just now, and the arrows look okay to me. It looks like you may have fixed this issue already.
