adding Follow Me on Twitter and Follow My RSS feed button to my page

Add topic to favorites
I can’t seem to understand how to add the Follow Me on Twitter button properly. Or the RSS button. I am an idiot, apparently.

I want them on my blog’s main page.

The problem is that the actual code shows up in the sidebar, not the button. Any suggestions?
