Add my adsense publisher code & html to wordpress blogsite

  • Good morning all, I have my topic, have my domain name, and my journal and photos for the past 10 days. I would like to add the adsense publisher code & html to wordpress blogsite. Don’t expect to make any real change but would like to have all things in place. I have gone through zero to hero several times and other blogsites and still cannot find the correct place to copy the codes. Anybody got the scoop? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I too have tried to link the 2 together and place ads on my site. I purchased a domain name thru WordPress. I have Adsense on another site (that’s free). I sent WordPress a message, but I would think it should be easier to do. I’m paying for the domain name so it makes sense I would at least be able to place the ads on my site.

  • read the links that auxclass provided and then it might make it a bit more clear to you why it’s not working.

  • I take it that you didn’t read this before you purchased the upgrade.

    Before Upgrading – Important Notes
Same Rules Apply – The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required to abide by our Terms of Service.

In a nutshell free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM cannot be used to drive traffic to third-party sites by means of advertising and/or affiliate programs (see next section for more clarity). E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on wordpress.COM blogs. No retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed.

    Affiliate marketing blogs
The only exceptions with regard to affiliate links are found here:

Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (“Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category. http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

    Advertising
I am sorry, but advertising is not allowed on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. The only exceptions are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and very high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

The bottom line is that if your wordpress.com free hosted blog is not achieving with a lot of traffic (generally 25,000 pageviews/month or more) and appropriate content and has not been accepted into the AdControl program, and you require an ecommerce site, advertising and/or affiliate links on your blog, you can hire a web host and get a free software install from http://wordpress.org In that case, please see the information at the link below to learn about the differences between free hosted WordPress.com blogs and WordPress.org software installs for self hosting. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Lastly, if you have any further questions please do not post into this thread as we Volunteers cannot help you. Instead contact Staff directly by using this link. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

  • thanks for the reply. I have seen those docs/items previously. I need to know exactly what command to “click” on and where to paste the publisher code for adsense and where to do the same thing for the html code. I guess the html code would go on the draft page where there is a tab labeled HTML but when I plug it in there, it seems to not make any difference.

  • @pastorpstephens
To be clear about this WordPress.com software will continue to strip out all blogger initiated advertising code and/or affiliate marketing codes you keep posting on your blog.

  • @pastorpstephens, you cannot advertise here here at wordpress.COM. You cannot use adsense. That is what it says in this support document, http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/ , linked to twice above.

If you want to advertise, you will have to self-host a blog on a third-party hosting service such as godaddy, bluehost, etc. Figure an average monthly total cost of $10 to $25.

  • Thank you all for your help. I appreciate the volunteers at WordPress! Have a great day.
