    Hi all with WordPress!

    Since we are all blogging and there is a constant threat on bloggers about copyright and other laws issues, I have taken the time to create a posting on it.

    It also tries to raise your awareness on blogging.

    I am hoping the blogosphere here would try to add your points and such to the posting and make it more complete. As we are aware, two things can affect seriously your baby: IT messed-ups, and legal actions.

    Mark and team will have no problem with IT. But since globalisation, legal issues including copyrights on blogging are becoming a killer in random. I hope you guys can understand the gravity of this issue. If X state starts legal action, Y state could just copy the trend. Hence, nobody is really safe just because you are somewhere in USA or Pacific or the on the poles.

    This is a real issue. Do not slight it. :)

    So if you get the idea, your actions are needed to keep this mess in check. You are your only hope, got it?

    Hi Timethief!

    I was active in some of the forum topics in such concerns. But I suppose we have to consolidate them somehow.

    I suggest we have a list of bloggers blogging on the same subject to one forum like IT support. It’d make interaction easier. We can consider them as blog protection activists group of WordPress or something like that.

    It’s not for just promoting my own posting because first and foremost after I went to EFF and other sites on legal issues, mainly in the west, I find it most effective if general awareness is promoted in the larger scope of globalisation.

    WordPress should have such a forum dedicated to legal concerns apart from IT support, especially to signify the global-ness of this issue. :-)

    Hmm… Mr Sacred, I suppose that’s ok with it.

    I just gone to the Lorelle link left here by TimeThief, it’s not actually what I have in mind. basically, and off-topic-ally, I think too many people are over ‘not concern’ in the thinking about this issue apart from the more standard IT issues.

    That’s dangerous. As Lorelle site mentioned, many courts are still unsure of how to handle blogs. The existing framework which, in my opinion, is lagging behind the advances is not really examined, but we are like trying to make sense of blogging to the old legal framework, hoping the courts will make sense for us.

    This is really amazing. Even in EFF, it is now defending bloggers trying to make sense a defence to satisfy a legal structure totally lagging behind or, in many occassions, has no understanding of blogging because they are never designed for blogging in consideration in their time.

    What we really need is to band together and get the courts all over the world to realise that blogging is an international phenomenon because (eg) I a Singaporean is blogging with a foreign host looking at the ‘market’ of the world, including China which has its own sets of values and concerns.

    We have a current issue not faced by the world. There are simply too many issues in all these advances that deem a court decision a gamble of justice when it comes to blogging.

    Do you like the idea of sitting around blogging to gamble who and who to find one rubbish to file against you?

    I don’t like the idea of being a sitting duck. That’s why.

    Bloggers have to realise that this is a practical concern, and current, and they must start saving themselves before politicians all over the world realise a ‘market’ in this for administration and supports.

    http://wordpress.com/contact-support/ is the best way to get ahold of staff about that issue as it is backend and nothing we can do in the forums ;)
