3rd party domains- can they be removed and then re-used?

    I’m thinking of using a domain name that I purchased through Namecheap. However, before I connect it to my wordpress I want to know if I can detach it later, retain it, and then connect it to another non-wordpress site?

    I’m new to wordpress, and if it doesn’t provide what I need I don’t want to have my domain name rendered unusable if I choose to not use wordpress.

    Can anyone address this for me?

    Hi Matthew,
    You retain control of the domain you purchased. If you try out WordPress and decide later that it’s not what you want, you can use your domain for a non-WordPress site.

    Note that WordPress is available two ways, fully hosted (WordPress.com) and self-hosted (WordPress.org). For more information about the differences between two, visit: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
