We often hear from members of the WordPress.com community who tell us how their sites came to be — and what drives them to continue publishing. Here are six bloggers, both veteran and new, explaining their passion in their own words.
Feminine Vestige
What inspires me as a blogger is the ability to reach people on a real and fundamental level that I can’t do in my everyday life. I wrote a poem in response to a Daily Prompt about feminism. It was very personal and I felt powerful and vulnerable while I wrote it. I received a comment on it that validated every single reason why I wanted to start blogging in the first place. A man commented, “I may not be a woman, but having read what you have written, I feel I am, or should be, a feminist.” It was my proudest blogging moment.
Cappuccino Connected
Blogging gives me a voice I wouldn’t normally have beyond the realm of cyberspace. Yes, I have an online identity within social media where I interact with others. What I didn’t have was a unique way to say, “Hey, stop for a second and read what I have to say, see what I have to share.” I’m inspired by so many other bloggers and how they develop and evolve.
Plasma
As any other blogger, I get inspired by that dot on the notifications bell icon. It makes me immensely happy when people find their lives relatable to mine, and become happy by reading my articles or poetry. My recent poem got appreciated which inspired me so much.
Truths My Sisters Told
As a person who lives with mental illness, I know that there are not enough forums for open conversation regarding the stigmas surrounding it. I hope to change that through sharing my personal experiences and struggles on the path to recovery.
You Him and Her
My first published article was in response to the Superpower Discover Challenge. I didn’t expect anyone to like it, comment, or follow my blog because of it, but I definitely hoped it may give someone a different outlook on my superpower, which is forgiveness. I received a comment from one lady who said that she was reading it at 4 A.M. and it gave her goosebumps. After I read that, I knew I had to keep writing and that someone, somewhere, will be impacted.
Akshita Jaiswal
As a fashion and lifestyle blogger, the ever-changing colors and textures inspire me to know more and pen down my thoughts. Writing about fashion or life is like meditation for me — it makes me excited and calm at the same time, and brings with it a dose of energy every day.

I write because I see.
Where the other man sees people, I see stories waiting to be told. I watch, try to understand, feel it, walk around it a little, and then I write. I’m never going back. No matter what else I do, as long as the souls that inhabit the bodies of man on earth still roam about me, I shall write the stories I see.
On the other hand, writing something and having someone somewhere far away relate completely with it; that’s another good reason I write. When I think that what I have written will inspire or influence someone to be better, it drives me to write the more.
I shall always write.

Primarily, I write for myself; to express myself about anything. Then I share my writing, with the hope of reaching someone-anyone, anywhere, who might find it useful.

I’m writing again because I was inspired by a friend, Graham K. Egli, who publishes on WordPress. After a couple of months of reading his ‘writes’ as he calls them (I call them poems:) I was inspired to start writing again. Previously I had only written poems when I was younger, and usually upset. It’s a wonderful feeling to express myself again in this way. Very freeing as well as validating. I continue to be inspired by what I read every day.

I write because I want my voice to reach more people than I have the opportunity to meet in person, and to speak out for those who can’t for themselves.

I never thought I’d find myself blogging. Now I’m in the middle of a new season in my life where I’m taking chances I’ve held myself from in the past with thoughts and pre judgments about myself. I’m completely new to this community of minds but I looked forward to being inspired and enlightened and hope that I can bring the same exchange.

I do write because it gives me the power to help change the world I live in for better. I like writing randomly since it gives me a chance to express my unfiltered thoughts and still make sense to the people. I’m glad that I’m able to relate with other bloggers and the others as well. 😃

I write out of a simple love for the craft: it’s a way to express what I’m already thinking and it motivates me to learn more about the world around me. Blogging is a bonus because there are so many people around to trade kudos and brickbats with. That interaction is what helps keep my fingers moving.

A couple of days ago I left a comment, the reasons why I write. I do not see this here. Is there a reason?

My blog started out as a creative outlet that I hoped would inspire me to write more. After the past two years, it has taught me so much about not only writing, but about graphic design, community engagement, social media marketing, and so much more. It has filled voids I didn’t even know existed, and each like, comment, and re-pin I receive inspires me to keep going.

I like to write because it is my choice of voice. Sadly, the art of books and words has died down since technology took over the world. But, I choose to stick with what I know and love. Writing allows me to slow down all of the things I try too quickly to grasp, and enjoy all of the little pieces, one at a time.

I blog; because, I believe that everyone has story to tell. Everywhere we go in life, everyone we meet and everything that we observe or participate in, becomes a DOT, in what might be called life. It’s the connection between those individual dots, which makes sense, in what we might call reality–something that is truly lacking in America today.
By connecting all of these little episodes in peoples lives, in fact, might just be the one way to stand-up to demagoguery. When we are content to just absorb sound bites, false truths and assertions, we are blindly following someone or something that might not have the best interest of everyone–whether citizens of America or the World, at large–in mind. AS THE OLD SAYING GOES, “THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE”, but that applies only to the True and Relevant Dots, which only we individually can connect and process.

I want to be the support that I wish I had had when I was younger and homeschooling my children. I want to be able to pass on the faith that has brought me through many a trial. I want to see people set free from depression, negative thinking, and legalism. I am only one small voice, but I want to use that voice to help others that may be struggling with some of the things that I have battled.

I have always written, but it’s been sporadic. That is, until I started this blog in December 2014. I set up several categories that are important to me: recovery, spirituality, and creativity. I write poetry on a fairly regular basis. I do some flash fiction. I really enjoy essays and “articles” on Christian matters, spirituality in general, and recovery. I write to (a) satisfy my creative self, (b) keep from going crazy with all the ruminations in my head, (c) to educate, especially regarding recovery, (d) and to inspire. To me, the most crucial benefit to blogging is it got me into a writing routine that I never had before. I like the community we have on WordPress. I like sharing my experiences, and paying tribute to the Great Creator. At times I feel no less than a conduit. My muse wakes me up at night. I am slowly heading toward publication. A memoir about my drug addled years, jail, struggles getting clean, difficulties repairing broken relationships. My blog is a sounding board as well. A place where I can put my work out there for feedback. I don’t know about any of you, but I am sometimes completely blown away by the stuff that comes out of me and onto a note pad or my laptop. I write because I love to. I write because I have to.

I am a new blogger and strangely enough I feel that I am not entirely aware of all the reasons that led me to open a blog. To share, to be a part of community, to improve my skills, to be inspired and to inspire…. But deep down there is also this wish to overcome the fear of putting my name to my work and not having control over what happens next. I have a lot of fears in my life and blogging is for me also (besides all the other reasons) a way to challenge myself to become a more free person and live out my talents in potentials with courage and love.

I write because
there is not enough content from Africa,I come from Kenya and writing has helped me connect with individuals from different cultures,an opportunity I would not have had if I was not writing and for which I am truly grateful.

I write because I want to get myself out there in the world through the things that I enjoy en love. I am a new blogger and I find it really hard to put my opinion and words out there through social media and my blog. For me not being a very sociable person, this is a nice way and challenge to still have contact with people. Through my blog I am trying to challenge myself to show a bit of myself and to put my thoughts out there and I’m hoping to eventually find opportunities that will really help me in life.

I write because I love telling stories, hearing stories, and having a voice is important to me. I feel every individual should have the right to express themselves through their writing. I do not always agree (I make that known) but we all have a voice! Never be afraid to share your story!

As a busy mother of three children, I find myself going crazy physically, emotionally, and mentally. Blogging has given me some sanity and really just a few minutes of “me” time where I can just write and relax my mind.

I take inspiration from whatever pops into my mind at night; I could even take an inspiration for a post for YouTube-I had recently checked out a horror-hosting duo by the names of Janet Decay and Grimm Gorri on their YouTube channel, and that inspired me to write a post about them! I got permission straight from the Mummy & The Monkey themselves(because that happens to be the name of the show)to let them mail me their biography, and then I put it into draft, in which I then translated into my blogpost! If and when you get a chance to read about The Mummy and The Monkey, then by all means check it out, and while you are at it, be sure to check out their YouTube channel, “Grimm Decay”, as well!-JW

What inspires me to write is the difference in people’s opinions on world issues. I get inspired when people read my posts. I also read people’s worries and this makes me want to share what I do when I’m worried. There are so many stories here and most really inspire me very much. I follow a lot of their blogs just to keep reading stories. I find everything inspiring.

I write because it’s my little haven from reality. I have always been really shy about sharing my writing and expressing myself, so blogging allows me to do that without my self-conscious worries.

I have just started my blog, what inspired me to do this is that words are so powerful! We all have some that mean so much to us whether we chose to share them or not. There is always somebody who can be inspired by your words and view. And vice versa of course. I want blogging to help me find my voice as much as i hope to louden anothers.
Thanks for reading.

I write because I like to play with words, or the way pords wlay with each other. My brain is like a constant diary, talking to myself wondering what I can write next. When I’m up at the keyboard it pulls out my personality and splashes it all over the page, like a spilt cup of coffee.
