We often hear from members of the WordPress.com community who tell us how their sites came to be — and what drives them to continue publishing. Here are six bloggers, both veteran and new, explaining their passion in their own words.
Feminine Vestige
What inspires me as a blogger is the ability to reach people on a real and fundamental level that I can’t do in my everyday life. I wrote a poem in response to a Daily Prompt about feminism. It was very personal and I felt powerful and vulnerable while I wrote it. I received a comment on it that validated every single reason why I wanted to start blogging in the first place. A man commented, “I may not be a woman, but having read what you have written, I feel I am, or should be, a feminist.” It was my proudest blogging moment.
Cappuccino Connected
Blogging gives me a voice I wouldn’t normally have beyond the realm of cyberspace. Yes, I have an online identity within social media where I interact with others. What I didn’t have was a unique way to say, “Hey, stop for a second and read what I have to say, see what I have to share.” I’m inspired by so many other bloggers and how they develop and evolve.
Plasma
As any other blogger, I get inspired by that dot on the notifications bell icon. It makes me immensely happy when people find their lives relatable to mine, and become happy by reading my articles or poetry. My recent poem got appreciated which inspired me so much.
Truths My Sisters Told
As a person who lives with mental illness, I know that there are not enough forums for open conversation regarding the stigmas surrounding it. I hope to change that through sharing my personal experiences and struggles on the path to recovery.
You Him and Her
My first published article was in response to the Superpower Discover Challenge. I didn’t expect anyone to like it, comment, or follow my blog because of it, but I definitely hoped it may give someone a different outlook on my superpower, which is forgiveness. I received a comment from one lady who said that she was reading it at 4 A.M. and it gave her goosebumps. After I read that, I knew I had to keep writing and that someone, somewhere, will be impacted.
Akshita Jaiswal
As a fashion and lifestyle blogger, the ever-changing colors and textures inspire me to know more and pen down my thoughts. Writing about fashion or life is like meditation for me — it makes me excited and calm at the same time, and brings with it a dose of energy every day.

Words are basically double edged swords. You can have a deep impact on a person’s life .You never know , may be by reading your stuff he can be so inspired that he would strive hard to get his ambitions right and become the most poweful person on the globe ! Words have the power to make a person’s thinking to go from void to overflowingly filled !

At first I started writing as a way not to go crazy but now I do it and for other people because I know it can be hard express your feelings so it great if someone finds themselves in some of my stories that way at least they know they are understood and not alone.

I first started blogging to write the many stories that pop in my brain. I am a dreamer and imagine stories everywhere. And then, the dot on the notification section got me going. I saw people liking and relating to my stories and I started writing more

I write because I don’t want to be invisible anymore. I’m young enough to believe there is some hope of being seen and heard. But I’m afraid I’ve been invisible for too long. Wouldn’t I have been seen already if I had something worth being seen over?

Very nice post. I started my blog recently and i always wanted to make people know about me, my ideas, my interests, i am 16 and wanted to do many things in my life that i also wanted to highlight. Being inspired is good but being someones inspiration is what i want. Moreover the dreams in which i believe are very big and needed to tell about them. Blogs helped me a lot in expressing my inner self not on a paper but on my phone that is used by me frequently. It helped me to share information about science and much more that if i get started i will not end till night😊😂

I am very excited to start writing. It is a passion of mine that I have kept hidden. This is a great platform for taking the tentative steps to becoming a confident writer.

I come from the heart of Europe, and when I was 16, I moved to the USA all by myself. That time I decided to create a blog, mainly for my family and friends, so they could keep up with my american life. Since then, I am travelling around a lot, and last year I decided to move to Turkey for 4 months.. Right now I am back at my home country, Slovakia, and I will be moving to Barcelona, Spain soon.. I want to share all the funny, exciting and terrifying adventures which are happening to me, and I want to encourage everyone to travel more.. I love to write and I want to give tips to students like me, how you can travel on “student budget”.Becasue everything is possibleeeeee 🙂

I think I just wanted to see if I could string two words together in an articulate and sense making manner. I don’t think I have a style, yet; my blogs have all been very different and I am only half a dozen or so in. My first blog was, well why I am here blogging and ‘giving it a go’.
Take a look if you are interested.

My only advice at the moment would be to not force it. I have so many drafts half started. I wasn’t ready to write them and may never be.

I am a 62 year old forced into retiree. I have a lot of free time on my hands! The other day I went to the app store and searched “apps for seniors” and “apps for baby boomers”. The very first things to come up were assisted living and midlife dating!! There really is nothing out there about fashion, makeup, exercise, everyday living for people my age. I want to change that with my words.

Blogging helps me to keep my thoughts safe someplace. I write short stories, poems and about things that affect me. Basically i write about everything that comes into my mind, just pen it down, like literally 🙂 I am able to reach people I wouldn’t otherwise, being a close knit person, not a really sharing types. I keep to my thoughts, but when I am desperate to share them, I put them out in words. Its a beautiful feeling when your thoughts are appreciated by others, it instills a sense of companionship to know that someone reads what you write and likes it too. Blogging for me is a motivation, a necessity to drive out the stress in me. I love writing!

i write because i feel the need to express and blogs are the best way to do it. We get the liberty to have our own voice which gets suppressed otherwise.

I write because I find writing as the best way to have a voice. I am able to express my opinons and lookouts through a small piece of writing, it makes me contended.

They are valid reasons to continue blogging. As a new blogger about technology to help entrepreneurs succeed, I started writing on wordpress.com and immediately I got followers and regular readers. However, it was limited in its functionality. Then I started blogging on my new website http://www.techtalklive242.com/blog and for some reason the followers are lacking. Didn’t stop and won’t stop. Hoping to inspire more young persons to be enterpreneurs.

Excellent post! For me blog is partly personal diary, partly a way to help others and network. I have always loved writing and photographing, and I actually started my very first blog 10 years ago and since them I’ve loved blogging. It’s fun, it’s social and it’s creative. 🙂

I write because my craft has gotten a bad rep. Marketing is seen as malicious to some and there has been a brick wall thrown up by consumers when it comes to ads and marketing efforts. I write to help those consumers make better decisions and show them that not all marketers are solely seeking their pockets. I thrive to give consumers an experience that they can have forever, even after the product or service is long gone. Because in the end when it is all said and done, all we have are our experiences in life and the memories of them

I write because I have a lot of stories I want to share. I am blessed to have seen and experienced amazing things, and putting it on paper (or on the laptop) really helps me organize and put my thoughts in order.

I write because of the accomplishment I feel after watching my thoughts literally come to life through the story that I tell on paper. I am able to create an identity of who I am as a person, share my inspiration with people who appreciate creativity and leave traces of me in the hearts and minds of my readers 🙂

I’m trying to write because I have a LOT of thoughts and a LOT to say, and no single person or group of people in my life can provide me with enough time and energy to think through everything and talk about everything that I need. Plus, my friends/family/partner are not the only audience I want to reach.

Obsession. For the last three years I’ve been obsessed with writing my life’s story, “My Life – The Ups’n Downs.”
Now, I believe I know what you’re thinking. Why on earth do you believe your life is that interesting that anyone would want to read it?
Turns out that your suspicions are correct! Absolutely no one has read it! It’s been on the Net for about five months now. Nada. Zilch. Batting zero out of the entire world of the Internet is the worst kind of odds I’ve ever heard.
Thing is, it takes money to advertise, a commodity of which I am sorely lacking. I don’t feel so bad, though. One out of every two of us in this country are living in poverty. I am in good company…
A thought occurred to me just now. Chopin, Picasso, Beethoven were three artists who had tremendous struggles in getting the recognition they deserved. So I shouldn’t feel too bad. Again, I’m in good company…
Another thought just came to my mind. There are those of you out there who have never heard of me, much less have read my life’s story.
Perhaps these are the very people who should be reading my story, though I can assure you that I would never resort to stooping so low as to imply that my story is on par with the genius of Chopin, Picasso, or Beethoven. Oh my goodness, no!
But, should you be curious: http://www.thereforeletusnotsleep.net. My email address is takethebadwiththelousy@yahoo.com.

It’s so fascinating to read what prompts blogger/authors to write. Not only about their decisions to begin blogging, but their reactions to their readers’ reactions. Thank you for such an interesting feature, and congratulations to the bloggers chosen to share with us.
