Have you traveled anywhere exciting lately? This week, let’s see where you’ve been.
This past February, I had the amazing opportunity to visit two of my dearest friends in Western Australia. I’d never been to the island nation before, never mind to the Southern Hemisphere, and throughout the entire journey from New York I had one thought on my mind: I can’t believe I’m doing this!
I’m no stranger to traveling the globe, but that surreal sensation that I was suddenly standing on the opposite side of the planet never went away. It took about as long as the jet lag to wear off before I could truly digest where I was; and yet, as I began to settle in, little moments continued to crop up that reminded me I was having a truly new experience. One such moment that stands out for me was encountering my first kangaroos.
As approachable and docile as they were, there was also a bit of majesty to the entire encounter as the sun set in the distance and this friendly critter allowed me to get awfully close to take a portrait. It was one of those fleeting experiences that reminds you how wonderful it is to get out of your comfort zone and try something new.
This week, share a photo that represents travel to you. Whether you’re crossing borders or visiting a nearby neighborhood for the first time, we would love to see how you capture these new environments and interactions!
I look forward to traveling with you!
Love the photo, David. I could guess you don’t “roo” the day you took that trip. 🙂

Travel is something almost everyone wants to do, but very few really prioritize and make it happen (methinks). Love wanderlust- the word holds magic.
Lovely picture, David. And a heartfelt post.

Great points. That’s one of the reasons I’d love for people to start redefining travel as simply getting out of their comfort zones and trying new things, not necessarily booking an expensive holiday abroad.
Lovely photos as well, thank you for sharing!

Wow, that’s such a big step to take! I want to live and work in California for a year, too! Will definitely take a look in your journey! Why did you move? 🙂 (If I may ask, haha)

You should give California a try! Always sunny! I moved away from NY because it wasn’t how I imagined it from what I had seen in television. You can check out the journey in my latest post: https://glamourguys.wordpress.com/2017/04/26/our-move-to-new-york-yay-or-nay/

Nicely written! It made me laugh a few times 🙂 NY definitely sounds like place you would go to if you don’t mind your health, hahaa! Hope California is finally a place you can build your future! I will try to as well to make my dreams come true! Unfortunately it is a lot more expensive to fly all the way from the Netherlands 😦

I would imagine! But let me know when you plan on coming to California. I would love to show you around.

I had some true wanderlust planned but then hurt my foot. My original goal was to hike along the brook that runs from my town up through the hills to the adjoining town.

To me travel is connecting. Recently, I took a month-long solo trip through India. It was my birthday while I was in Udaipur and though he didn’t know the significance of the day, a new friend and I cooked dinner in his home. This cover photo represents that personal manifestation of travel.

Wow David, great topic … you have given me the opportunity to travel around the world to places I know well and to explore new scenes of countries not visited.
Being an Aussie I grew up with roos, they bound around my mothers village. A hazard when driving around dawn and dusk. My post may take a while as I decide which photos best illustrate my wanderlust! Thank you
