This week, share with us the structure of something typically overlooked.
“Nature will bear the closest inspection. She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain.” — Henry David Thoreau
We move so briskly through our daily lives, we don’t typically notice the details of the world around us. The structure of living things, the intricacy of our own bodies, even the components of human-made technology; all can be sources of wonder.
Look closely at the photo of the moonflower leaf below. Upon first glance, you will probably notice the vibrant green color, the heart shape. Now, notice the symmetry of the veins radiating out from the nearly perfect center line. Then, consider the microscopic cells that compose the leaf, hidden from the naked eye, but critical to its structure.

“Structure,” photo by Jen H.
Today, take a moment to notice the structure of everyday things around you. Note the lines, freckles, and tiny hairs on your arm, and imagine the biological blueprint that created them. See the bricks of a building, and realize that they were individually placed there by another person. Then, share with us a photo of the structure of something wonderful. We’re eager to see details through your lens.
I like the way you positioned that leaf, too, Jen. Lots of structure and lines in your shot.

I wonder what structures will endure – manmade and natural – until my children’s children have children? https://scillagrace.com/2017/08/30/weekly-photo-challenge-structure/
