Sometimes, we get caught up in nostalgia, future fantasy, or both, and we don’t embrace the “now.” For this week’s challenge, take a moment to notice your present, and share a photo of it.
With the holiday weekend approaching, this week’s Photo Challenge comes to you a few days earlier. Join us on 1/1/2016 for the first Photo Challenge of 2016.
“What day is it?”
“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
“My favorite day,” said Pooh.
― A.A. Milne
As a new year approaches, most people find themselves reminiscing about the past, or dreaming of the future. “Auld Lang Syne”, a song sung around the world on New Year’s Eve, translates to “old long ago”. Then, on the very next day, we immediately set goals and resolutions for the coming year. Sometimes, we get caught up in nostalgia, future fantasy, or both, and we don’t embrace the “now.”
In the photo I’ve shared this week, I was trying to get my children to cooperate for a photo. My intention was to get a beautiful photo for a large gift canvas, but as you can see, they weren’t interested in letting Mom capture the perfect shot. I became frustrated and impatient, though now when I look back through those “blooper” shots, I realize what a slice of our lives they represent. This image is a perfect depiction of our “now.”

“Now”, a photo by Jen Hooks, for the Daily Post Photo Challenge.
For this week’s challenge, take a moment to notice your now, and share a photo of it. Perhaps it is something imperfect, or mundane, or under-appreciated. Maybe it is a simple moment, or maybe it is something grand; we can’t wait to see!
Candid shots can be more interesting sometimes. Great shot!

I love this picture! Happy children look fabulous no matter which angle you capture or what they are doing because they are so at the moment. At that age, they probably will have a limited sense of space and time, and that is what makes this image so precious.

I want to share this picture that I took while walking around the ruins of the old town walls of Nessebar in Bulgaria.
It gave me great pleasure to visit Nessebar. Founded more than 3,000 years ago, it’s considered on of the oldest town in Europe.
At the same time, traveling should be less about ruminating on the past and what might have been. Rather, it should be more about opening up to new experiences. It’s about seizing the moment before it passes you by. It’s about seeing flowers in bloom among the ruins. It’s about living now.

I love your photo, to me it’s a reflection of real life and so much more interesting than a posed, perfect shot.
As for me, it’s Christmas and technical computer issues, so life as it usually is 🙂 messy and fabulous:http://wp.me/p2owKx-Ii
Cheers!
