For this week’s photo challenge, let’s keep things fluid.
Whenever I browse through my photo library, I’m shocked by how H2O-heavy it is. Waterfalls, rivers, lakes — I go chasing all of them, it would seem. If I give these images a closer look, though, it’s clear that I tend to focus not on the water itself, but rather on the landscapes and textures it produces. So this week, let’s treat the fluids around us with the attention and respect they deserve.

During a recent lunch in Kyoto, Japan, just moments before the food arrived, our table featured no fewer than four distinct liquids: red wine, sparkling water, yuzu soda, and the water hydrating the lovely flowers whose name I don’t know. I love how they ended up aligned on the table against the dark wall and brightly lit street outside the window (thank you, accidental chiaroscuro!). One second, they make me think of allegorical still-life paintings from centuries past. The next, I just enjoy the way the light travels so differently through each glass.
For this week’s challenge, share a photo of liquid in whatever state, shape, or color you happen to capture it in. You can go as big as the ocean or as small as a teardrop, as clear as vodka or as opaque as milk. Let’s raise a glass to your photos — I can’t wait to dive in.

You are welcome to dive in any time you want to, Ben. Just be careful you don’t land in a fishing net.
Your photo is a bit of peace in a stressful world, lovely.

Happiness is really up to us individually. Being happy anyway is hard when you have been hurt, but the hurt you can lay aside also. I believe the Joy of the Lord is my strength. I read daily, and presently, I am reading from both the Old, and New Testaments. A little at a time makes progress eventually. I believe we mustn’t become so burdened with life that we lose the joy of the Lord. He made us to sing to Him, and to have His joy. If the birds can sing, and create music, I believe I can find His tune and sing it. The joy of the Lord gives you strength. It comes, and it doesn’t vanish when you become determined to continue in steadfastness daily. Life isn’t a chore. It is a reality, and what we do with life will make a difference. Receive His joy, and it may change your perspective forever.

Hi Ben. I read your post at a moment of feeling parched, and the abundance of drinks on your table was an impetus to do something to stave off further dehydration.
