This week, show us something (or someone) sweet.
While I don’t have as much of a sweet tooth as my husband, I’d never turn down an opportunity to sit at a cafe to enjoy churros con chocolate: deep-fried dough, sprinkled with sugar, that you dip into a cup of thick chocolate. The pastry is typically shaped as a long, thin stick, and sometimes it’s knotted or curved, as shown in this snapshot of our table at Petritxol Xocoa, a chocolate boutique in Barri Gòtic (the Gothic Quarter) in Barcelona, Spain:

I’m embarrassed to admit how many times we returned for this treat while we were in Barcelona. I’ll just say that by the time we left the city, I was able to find this little cafe — and navigate the narrow, medieval streets of this labyrinthine neighborhood — without getting lost.
What does sweet look like to you? We look forward to your photo submissions this week!

I love churros con chocalate, it reminds me of home-I came from the Philippines and our country has a strong Spanish influence. Anything with chocolate, dark chocolate to be more specific, I’ll be there!

Since you’re unlikely to find anything less healthy in our house (yeah right!) I raided the fruit bowl. https://castelsarrasin.wordpress.com/2018/02/14/sweet-tart-weekly-photo-challenge/ I don’t mind the churros in your photo, but have to pass on the chocolate.

I loved your photo. At first, I thought it was a painting, that’s how artistic it looked. Reality doesn’t usually look that sweet!

Wearing my skeleton on the outside of my skin, I bury my eyes into the golden gloss of his fur. Twin trails slip down, drip, drip, dripping until they pour onto the carpet. My forehead wobbles across the arcs of his insulated body, incubated by steady breaths. Attuned but unafraid, his chocolate orbs glance my […]

I LOVE churros!
We lived in Puerto Rico for a spell when I was a boy and the vendor carts serving up piping hot churros were everywhere. We didn’t realize how good we had it.

mmmmm!!! NEVER be embarrassed for the amount of churros consumed. It’s basically health food in Mexico, right? no? eh.

Love Barcelona, in particular the Gothic Quarter. Favorite spot to eat was La Pepita – not in the Gothic Quarter but worth the trip if you’re still there
