By As bloggers we’re often focused on the Next Big Post, but using pages thoughtfully encourages readers to dig deeper and organizes information to help them find the content that will grab them.

Why add a page?
- Pages are a great way to organize evergreen content and make it easy for your readers to find it quickly, which makes them more likely to read it.
- Because you might not have had a chance to add that About page we chatted about yet. (No judgement!)
Here are some ideas to get you thinking about precisely which type of page you’d like to add.
- An About page helps readers get to know about the person behind the hilarious stories, badass music, heartbreaking poetry, or breathtaking photos — if you’re still thinking about yours, commit to finish it up today.
- A contact form allows readers to get in touch without you making your email address public (and gives your readers a way to share info they’d rather not post publicly in a comment).
- Comment guidelines set the tone for the behavior you expect from readers — and the behavior you won’t tolerate. You’re welcome to steal The Daily Post‘s guidelines as a starting point.
- Make your readers part of the blog — invite them to suggest or vote on topics by creating a poll.
- An FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page can help you avoid blog fatigue — If readers continually seek the same info, write up the definitive response.
These are just examples — you’ll want to customize the pages on your blog to match your needs. Think about your goals for the blog, any challenges you’ve been facing with it, and the feedback you’ve had from readers so far. Can a page help you address any of those?
Once you add a page, make sure readers can find it. You can add a link to it in your sidebar, now that you’re a whiz with widgets or, add it to a menu. Here’s the run-down on menus — to start, head to Appearance → Menus in your dashboard, and you can drag-and-drop your new page into a menu.
Ready? Here are step-by-step instructions for creating a new page. When you’re done, feel free to publish a short post letting readers know about your new resource, share it on your social networks, and drop a link to your new page in The Commons so we can all check it out.

Adding pages made a huge difference on my blog! Since I write about a very niche form of writing, it’s nice to have the pages and the drop downs for my readers to have a handy reference for the basics. Then they can just drop in anytime for guidance, or graze on some new post fodder 🙂

I love your blog very much and thanks to translations even I can read it now 🙂 I do not know, if it is only in translated version, but all buttons below post (Facebook, twitter etc) are doubled. I don’t know if it is my problem or somebody else sees the same

Is there a way to add a page that will act as a collection of all posts containing a specific tag or category? For example, it would be cool to have my blogging 101 posts contained within a page.

I think you can have a page pull up all of your post from a single category/tag. I believe it’s under “all pages”! my internet is quite laggy so i cant quite get to it yet!

Apparence > Menus > Categories. You’ll be able to set categories as a “page” or tab on your menu bar.

I’ve added a static front page to my blog that I want to use as a welcome page to my website. Are there any templates available so I could simply add photos, headlines etc. to make this kind of page? If not, do you have any examples I could use as a model to adapt? Thanks!

you could categorize your blogs and have individual tabs, or “pages” so people can click on a tab and be taken to a page with all your post under a certain category!

I just finished answering about 100 emails this morning and now I need to wrap my brain around this. 😦
Growing up, I always heard, “Do it well or not at all,” and this is likely one of those tasks I can’t do well because my day is so far spent. I should give it a try and just start the process for another time when I can go back, revise and hope to do a credible job.

Being LGBT and Christian, I started a page on bible texts about gay people, and over the years have added to it with useful links showing God really does not mind. I have a couple of pages with links to my old content, and pages with longer essays, which can only be reached by links from other pages. People really do burrow into my blog, and find these things. Yesterday fifty separate posts and pages were read by someone, not including the home page/archives figure on the stats.

Have created a new page and know what I want to use it for. I’ve been searching everywhere though for a way to link an already existing post to the new page so it shows there. There is highly likely something very obvious I have missed. But, help anyway!!!!

Separating them by using categories would make a difference, I think – as a reader, you want to have ways to go through one at a time 🙂

I like the menu – and I guess a page is a great way to highlight something. I would maybe even notice you have a discounted section, if it were not on a separate page 🙂

Thanks for all the tipps and tricks on that blog. I have only been blogging for a week now, and just added and updated my about page. Write what you hope will be best about your blog- how you hope it will be beautiful, or exciting, or inspiring. Say it is, on your About page (and come and look at mine, I have videos, it’s great) then make it so.

hello
i have been a bit sick last week so i am quite backwards.
however this must be a sign that the day i start again the post is about how to create pages. I was wondering whether it is possible to post new content in some pages, like a subblog
Or another idea is to show some categories posts on a dedicated page.
I did not find a way so far. Is it possible somehow?

Not really sure what other page I would add haha. Love having multiple places on one site to “hangout” though so multi pages are pretty cool.

I am trying to create a Social Media Page and I would like to create links to pinterest, instagram, facebook, etc… Do I have to be logged into my social media for the links to work properly?
I have been trying to link up with a Pinterest using a button. I got the html from Pinterest but it only shows a regular link when I add it to the page, no button.
I appreciate any help.

I’ve thought about adding pages: poetry and photographs. Can others share page ideas that might not have occurred to me? Also, I’d love to hear how people built their followers and commenters- like the 1 or 2 most effective ways? I’d happily hear any feedback on my author blog- thanks!
