Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hello everyone! My blog has now been running for one year. I published this post to reflect on that first year, and to highlight some of the moments that have been most rewarding:

    Three / Six / Five

By blogging I feel that I’ve clarified my own thinking, which has been a really powerful experience. But, more importantly, I’ve learned about new things, or things I don’t really understand by engaging with all your blogs.

So, thanks for all your work on your own blogs… and thanks for engaging with mine!

I have just read your dementor one, very true both myself and my husband are diabetic but its my husband that take meds and does have these ‘hypos’ he can feel it coming on all of a sudden and has some dextrose with him which is an instant hit of sugar, now he is more careful with making sure he eats regularly so his sugars don’t drop too much, but it is awful when it hits you especially when you are working, you must take more care of yourself, well written, please feel free to visit my sight and let me know what you think

  4. Hi everyone! Happy Monday and end of another month. Did you have a great weekend? Mine was stupendous!! 😊

In my little corner of the interwebs I run a daily blog that is based in Britishisms, so to speak. If that hasn’t gotten your attention, then perhaps the part where an American takes a stab at them will? No? Just me. Okay! I dabble in poetry and flash fiction to define these Britishisms.

I’m excited for another day at the pool. See you around, hopefully!

    1. Sleep is an underrated commodity in our society! I have dealt with chronic insomnia for many many years and the detriment is multifaceted. Many people do not know that all healing and cell repair occurs during sleep. I will certainly give thanks for the Zzzzs I can get.

      1. Thank you! My main one would be figuring out a sleep routine that works with you/your lifestyle and sticking to it then over time your mind and body would get used to it. Knowing whether you are a morning person or night owl helps a lot too. In my next post, I will go over my sleep routine and the things that work for me. Maybe it could give you some more ideas

    2. Lovely written post and I can very much identify! If I don’t get enough sleep my mood changes and I find myself getting irritable. Sleep is so important for a healthy body and mind!

Ability Magazine picked up my piece “Inspiration Conspiracy” and published it over the weekend! Because I’ve received some favorable feedback, I thought I would share the original blog post with you, my treasured audience! I invite your contemplative reflections and observations.

    1. Hi 🙂

An interesting comment. It is a shame how so many reviews are biased negatively, due to a problem they have had, and it is difficult to weigh this. I left you a comment, which probably makes more sense 🙂 An interesting post, thanks for sharing 🙂

    2. Interesting article. I try not to read reviews for books as they are so subjective. Many books that were later ‘classics’ were hated in their own time. I do read reviews for hotels and restaurants though. 😂

    1. I took a look at your blog, and it looks like there is a huge range of topics. I started out blogging like that as well, but found that when I narrowed it downs to a few specific things and then started connecting with bloggers with similar interests, my traffic started to grow.

    1. Religion is so personal yet so public. It is supposed to unite yet it divides. It is supposed to be humbling yet some are arrogant. Such a dichotomy.

  6. Hello!
First of all, I’d like to thank you guys for your response. 1.5k views and 250+follows is way more than what I had expected when I first started this venture.

Today, my contribution to this teeming pool bubbling with swimmers is a post which blends behavioural science, chemistry along with a tang of Kung Fu Panda and Harry potter in an attempt to explain the term ‘Perception’. The combination may sound hilariously incompatible, hence I’d like you guys to read and find out!

I’m looking forward to all sorts of feedback. And I promise to not just comment and walk away! I’m also excited to discover new blogs! 🙂

    1. Love the post. I just followed you! Coming from a science background myself I love to connect with fellow sciencey minded individuals who love the creative aspects of writing! P.S. As for the glass half full/empty. My first thought was that the picture was 2 glass shots stacked on top of each other lol

    1. I think people expect more photos with a travel blog. More detailed explanations of maybe fewer local food items might work better than a long list (I like long lists but I’m odd!)
There’s nothing wrong with what you’ve done but I’m trying to think of ways to increase readers, maybe post titles would be a good place to look too. Short and snappy/witty. If a lot of people are blogging about Sarajevo for instance, what’s going to hook them to look at yours?

      Liked by 3 people

      1. That’s really interesting. Actually, I have noticed my posts on narrower subjects have received more views than general ones. Very helpful advice. Looking at your titles I can see you’ve got short and snappy down to a fine art. You’ve given me a lot to think about. Thank you!

    3. I have two blogs and one is a travel blog. I’m currently in college so i don’t do much of any traveling now but i write about places.

I made sure there are enough pictures. Some ideas are nice pictures, more informations about the place, travel tips and hacks, traveling on budget, places to travel to with little cash and so on. You also write on food, so people wanna read about different dishes from different tribes and learn.

Check out different food blogs and give them a pingback on their popular posts.
      I hope this helps…
