First Friday

Brand new blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.
  • When commenting, avoid copying and pasting the same response repeatedly. It makes it look like you’re not really paying attention. Not to mention, it’s spammy.

    1. Great post, hello back! 🙂
Only the last image loaded for me though, the first three were just a box with the image name. Viewing on my mobile phone, so maybe it’s me? It looks like lifebythepages didn’t have the same problem…

    1. Hiya! Nice looking site 🙂 You have a text widget on your menu though, which I don’t think is meant to be there! I’m viewing via mobile if that helps.

    1. I despise the train. It is one of the reasons I left my corporate life. I don’t know how this passenger ended up happy. But I want what she’s having. LOL. Great descriptions. If you don’t mind me suggesting so, you may want to add a like widget or comment box underneath your blogs so one can easier place their feedback. 🙂

      1. Hey. This passenger was new to all this haste and rush. Moreover, for the very first time she got an opportunity to travel by herself. She was proud of herself.
I have a comment and like widget for your feedbacks
        Thanks for visiting.

      2. Oh, I see. That makes sense. Really, my apologies, I did not see the like button, I will look again, I wanted to click it. Traveling for the first time on the train can be scary, it is a big accomplishment to be proud of.

  2. Here is my first post:

    https://randomsteph.wordpress.com/2018/04/06/first-blog-post/

I created this blog and my first post impulsively in the middle of the night, I’m not sure if I’m doing it right, nor if I got the idea of the WordPress site right… It was really an impulsive action… So I’ll truly appreciate any Feedback.
First thing I discovered after creating my first post was this, the First Friday Post, so now I’ll look the other posts that are being shared. 🙂

    Thank you!!!!! 🙂

    1. If you’re getting started, we recommend Blogging University — there are a bunch of free courses on how to set up your site and start a blogging habit. We’ll send you one email each day for a couple of weeks (depending on the length of the course) with a bit of inspiration and a small task to help you reach your goals.

All the best on your blogging journey!

    1. Hi, I love the warm, homely feel of your blog. I read a few different posts and left you comments. A wonderful job and very interesting!

    1. Hey,
I’m totally not a whimsy girl, and totally not your audience, but, after a quick going through:
      – Consider a paid plan; then you can have your own identity and the .wordpress.com is removed, and, you can play and make any (premium theme) much more your own.
      – Consider changing the menu; the about and contact shouldn’t be first.
      – Consider a tagline or something under the whimsy girl magazine so people can see in a couple of words what it is about (as in a ‘punch line’)

But… as this is a temporary site, maybe don’t do much with it and focus on the real one?

    1. The quickest way to catch my fancy is through the use of poetry. Your blog from the posts to the entirety of the site, is poetic. I guess I am now a follower. You can also check out some poetic posts on my blog. Thanks

    1. The link you have here doesn’t seem to work for me – I think the one you’re after is https://blackwomanmotivated.wordpress.com other than that, I love your blog! I would maybe consider editing/removing the generic “first post” blog but other than that I think your posts are really insightful! I’ve dropped you a follow too! Keep up the good work 🙂
