Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Note: The Community Pool will be closed for maintenance between April 9-16. See you back on April 23!

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi beloved community, am currently on a blogging sabbatical seeking inspiration, but would really appreciate feedback as regards to my blog.
Here’s my most popular post that details the plight in the midst of her son moving to the city.

  2. Hi all.

On my blog, The Unfinished Script, you’ll find all sorts of short stories, along with a series called Banana Pancakes where I’m writing a new chapter each week. Here’s a story I wrote the other day which is a bit different from my usual but gives you a good taste of what I write. Also, maybe anyone can answer this but recently changing my URL on here and I lost all my followers, which is never good, plus pingbacks/comments aren’t always working, any suggestions why?

    1. Great post about the narratives concerning anxiety! I’m not sure I entirely agree with it all but it has some very valuable perspectives in it.
I love how you manage to weave humor into a topic that can be so difficult for some people to discuss without being insensitive or crude. It’s honestly very impressive to me.

I also greatly appreciated the subtle Dr. Who reference!

    2. I reached out to you a while ago, but did not get an answer, so I thought I’d give it another try when I saw this comment of yours. It seems like I cannot leave a comment on your site. It says I need to “log in”. WordPress people tell me it’s something on your end. Any ideas?

      1. Hi! I’m not sure what it is, but I get asked that question a ton. I did some digging and found that if I tried to leave a comment through the app it would show my comments as closed. But if I went on my computer I had no problem.

      2. Yeah, it’s a weird thing. I thought it was something on my end but I have comments enabled and some people can comment so it’s like…why? Haha. I wonder how many people it’s stopped from commenting.

      3. I saw all the other comments and thought you had to maybe “accept” them or something. You know, approving people to stop spammers from visiting your site. But I guess not. Maybe geo-location? Do you think you and those that comment are from the same country?

      4. Not sure, I do have to accept comments but I accept all unless they are spam, but yeah, I have gotten that message at least 15 times. Sometimes people email me as well lol.

  3. Hi all,

as it seems I can’t change the colour of my blogs title in the header pic. Any thoughts on how I can make it more distinctive, though ?

  4. Hi guys,
I’m thinking of upgrading my blog. Do you think is best option just to upgrade to Premium plan and get a free domain or you have other suggestion? I would like to be simple.
Please check out my blog, I really need honest opinion what you think.
I’ll be glad to engage with you as well.

    1. I love that upgrading to premium gets rid of any WP advertising and you get your own domain! I found it totally worth it, but still used a free template/design!

  5. Hey everyone!

I just started my blog not long ago, and I’ve found I’ve kind of drifted towards mainly writing about movies. I recently wrote my first film review and I’d love to get some feedback, on what you liked or where I could improve:

Film Review: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

If you have the chance, and if you’re interested, I’ve also written about some other movies in a mixture of analysis and general discussion on my blog, so it would be cool to hear what you guys think.

    Thanks 😀

    1. Hi Cristina!
Your reviews are pretty great! I like how they’re short but well detailed. One thing that I’d suggest to you is to include some sort of a rating system or something of that equivalent. This way your readers will know which film you liked better and it would be easy to compare the films. I’m not an expert on writing reviews or anything but a rating does provide the reader with more context. That’s what I think.
May the force be with you! 😁

  6. Hello everyone! Great to see you fellow swimmers!

I had recently written a poem on life from the perspective of a street child. Since I am an Indian, street children are a common sight in our country. I hope you read it and like it. Feed backs are most welcome. I’d be glad if you expressed your views too!

    Here it is:

    Thank you! Have a great day/night ahead❤

  7. I’m certainly familiar with procrastination, especially with blogging. This is where I was back in the fall. It can be tricky when you’re juggling other things. I can understand how it can become difficult to write when traveling. But I find it very cool that did 2.5 months of traveling. Awesome indeed! I try to keep the blogging momentum going by keeping notes of thing I want to write down the road and adding notes to a particular topic as need. This makes writing the actual post easier, thereby allowing me to post more articles.

Welcome back to the blogosphere! ☺️

  8. Hello beautiful people!

What are your thoughts about heroes?
What are heroes according to you guys? (Reply in the comment box)
That’s what my poetry is also about. Heroes, not just war victims, war survivors, Iron Man (You know who I am), Katniss Everdeen. Harry Potter and the countless other heroes that we idolize.

This poetry is called “Unsaved Heroes”. Intriguing? Well, do give a read and check it out yourself.

  10. Hello guys!! hope you had a great day .
April has begun and it has been a month since I started my journey here and I can say it’s been a helluva ride. Few months back I was suffering from depression , my friend suggested me to write what I feel and maybe share it with the world. And since that day I haven’t looked back and whenever I write a post I enjoy the flow of my emotions turning into a poetry and appreciation from you guys makes it a lot better.
    So thank you.
PS: I usually write poetry and prose and I would really appreciate your tips and advices.
