If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

      1. Your poetry pieces are relatable and easy to read. Your blog easy to navigate.
But you do need to polish your blog a bit.
        1. Editing the “About” page.
        2. Editing the “text widget”.
        3. And maybe just doing a preview of the poem (instead of the full piece) on the Home page.

“About” page and edit the default text. Write something about yourself and maybe what the blog will be about. In order to see how WE all see your blog, go to “My Sites” top left, “View Site”. From there you can click on “About” and “Edit”. You will also notice a text widget on the right side of your posts. It’s a good idea to edit it as well. There’s all sorts of things you can use the widget for.

https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/ here is a helpful link on widgets.

Once you publish more posts, it might be tedious for people to just keep scrolling in order to get to the next one. One of the ways to change that is when you are writing a post (or editing one) to click “Insert read more tag”. This can be found on your editing toolba, next to your aligning buttons and spellcheck. This will allow you to enter this tag anywhere in the post. That way, people visiting your Home page will just click on “read more” to view the entire post instead of reading the whole thing right there and then. That also increases your post views.

      1. You, too. Nice blog. Left you some comments. Good poetry and assessment of things around us.

One thing. You might want to add a Contact page to your blog. It will help bloggers get in touch with you in the future when they need. When they want to ask you a private question, or when they wasn’t to collaborate, or invite you for a blog post, etc.

https://wordpress.com/support/pages/ a good link if you weren’t sure how to add such a page. WP does the rest for you. A person fills out their details and the message is sent to your email associated with this account.

      1. And you as well!

A nice, clean, inviting blog. The content is also inviting. Well done.

There are a few things I would suggest if you have some time to work on your blog.

        1. Edit your “About” page.
        2. Edit your “text widget”.
        3. Make the posts on your home page just previews into full posts.

Write something about yourself and maybe what the blog will be about. In order to see how WE all see your blog, go to “My Sites” top left, “View Site”. 1. I liked the way you described the plot but you didn’t tell us too much what you thought of it? If it’s your review it would be nice to get a deeper idea of what you thought about the story instead of some quotes you liked at the end the piece as they are just sort of tacked on at the end?
I appreciated the fact you put the purchasing info in in case people want to read it themselves and I’m guessing you also included the Amazon blurb? Although that’s not totally clear that that’s what the first chunk of text in the post is.
Good job though! It was an enjoyable read and did pique my interest about the novel.

    2. The review of the book is very good and entices me to read it. I’m not sure if a book review blog holds itself up to photos in the text, but you’ve a lot of text there, so one or two may help keep the reader interested.
      Hope this helps 🙂

    1. An interesting perspective for a blog. I’m definitely curious.
One thing that I’d like to point out, when I click on the Menu button, underneath the Home/About/Contact, I see a default “text widget”. There are so many cool things you can use it for. Btw, if you didn’t know, in order to see how WE all see your blog, go to “My Sites” top left, “View Site”.

    2. Your writing is awesome. I definitely look forward to reading more. As floatinggold said, you should tweak your page a little. I’ve only been doing this a month so I don’t have it all down yet either, but when I have time I will sit around & play with it. Maybe you could try that.

      1. I had a hard time figuring it out as well. In my case I added as categories to my menu; for example category facts section and category lifestyle. Then in the settings of the individual posts you could choose those categories and they would display there.

    1. I enjoyed this post great tips! As far as a review, you have excellent content and I like the placement of the search and categories widget on your homepage- made it easy to find posts.

I think using different sizes for each heading or bolding would be helpful and choosing one format and sticking with it would be more visually appealing for an easier read. Example the Lifestyle post- tip #1 heading ends with a period, #2 a colon, #3 an ellipsis, #4 colon, #5 a period and each one kind of gets lost in the sentence that follows so that’s why changing font size or bolding may help, or perhaps spacing each tip out would work.

If you’re wanting to integrate some of your posts into an additional menu because they fall into more than one category, you can create submenus within your menus or could use hyperlinks perhaps? I’m just starting out as well though and will be encountering the same thing once I get my recipes up, so we’ll see what we come up with. Great post!

  2. Hello new bloggers.
Blogging is fun and you must have already realised that. But it is more fun when we get to know each other. Involving in discussions and giving valuable feedback is the best thing about it. One gets to know a lot about others’ views and opinions. Having said that, I welcome you again. Share your links in the comment section so that we get to know each other.
You can visit my and others’ blogs till then and comment there too. Believe me, this part of blogging is total fun and informative too.

    1. I’m guessing it’s your theme but the font being that big and bold in the body text is a little overwhelming to read?
And making sure your links are all formatted the same (block caps for example) would help for aesthetic value but overall, good post! I totally want to try your recipes!

      1. I find 2 things to be popular among other bloggers.
        1. Stating what your blog will be about. So that people can take a look and know what kind of posts they will be reading if they choose so.
        2. People often want to know more about the author. So whatever you feel comfortable with revealing. Name, job, why you started to blog.
        3. A bonus is if you can make it light and funny.

        Just my opinions.

    2. Also, for some reason, there is a horizontal white stripe on top of your blog, which obscures the menu button in the top right corner. I’d look into getting that fixed/ removed, but I’m not sure how.

      1. When you get a moment, it might be a good idea to add an “About” page to your blog. https://wordpress.com/support/pages/ here is a link explaining how to. You could introduce yourself there and/ or write what your blog will be about.

Also, it seems like your home page features the entire post.

      1. Please, one link per blogger! It helps our community ensure they’re spreading their love and advice around to all those seeking it. While we encourage bloggers to share their first post, I’d never delete a comment with a link to a blog that was less than a month old — no worries there! I do delete comments where the blogger has a post or posts that are older than one month, just to keep this space for those who are just starting out on their blogging journey. All the best to you!

      Welcome to WordPress!
I read this post of yours and did like reading it! However, because this was an informative post, I would like to advise to add a couple of more details regarding the issue (maybe, some exact numbers or the places which were not that affected). Thanks for letting us know about how Philippines has gone a rank higher!
Also, I noticed that you haven’t updated your about page. I would recommend you do to so. An ‘About’ page which talks about you and what your blog aims at, will help the readers understand your blog better!
      Happy blogging! 🌹
