Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. What a beautiful sentiment. I always fluctuate between an over-inflated sense that I am great to I really suck so this is something we all need to be working on.

    2. Thank you for your post! It’s so very true…I too struggle to do this exact thing especially when in the grips of depression (Damn! How I wish it weren’t a part of me…sigh..!).
Thankfully we get to keep on trying and wipe the slate clean😊

    3. This is an amazing post! In a world where we all seek love, we tend to forget to love our own self first. I love the juxtaposition you have shown between the painting and our life.
      Beautiful indeed.

    4. Thank you for putting it out there. It is a very difficult thing to acquire and find that balanced spot. It is even more difficult when you have daughters and are trying not to rub off on them. Keep up the good work.

      1. I’m so sorry dear. When talking about illnesses, we often focus on the sick, but in truth they are hard on everybody. Stay strong. I hope the treatment goes well and she can recover, or at least get better, as quickly as possible. ♥

        Take care.

    1. Usually I have some sway between liking either black and white photos or colored photos better; yours, though? I have no preference; they’re all beautiful! Thanks for the share!! 😊

      1. Thanks very much! The locations are – Holy Island, in North-East England; Calanais and Carloway, which are on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides Islands off Scotland; Rannoch Moor, which is in the Scottish Central Highlands (those photos were taken by iPhone from a moving train with dirty windows – hence the blurriness!); and Knock Hill, which is near where I live in Central Scotland.

    2. Interesting topic. I barely eat vegetables so it is more like eat more good and trash everything else, but I like that you explained it’s not going to be easy. I have tried many times to eat better, but my brain keeps telling me to have the pasta.

      1. Haha! Yeah it is more difficult than people like to think it is. Therefore, I have designed a way to respect the level of difficulty, but to still be able to make progress over time in a way that our bodies may just appreciate more.

  1. Hello to all the readers and writers out here!

I love the art of poetry. I believe poems are the best ways for poets to express secrets that are hidden deep within them and for readers to unearth treasures stitched into words.

I write poems and would love to know what you think about them!

Here’s the link to one of my poems:

    You Know Who You Are

Do you like to read/write poems? Let me know if you do!

Would be glad to receive feedbacks!

    With love,

    Meher

    1. Hi Meher, your poem stuck out to me in its relatability. You are absolutely right in saying poetry is an artist’s means of expressing the feelings that are not easily spoken. As a poet myself, I genuinely understand.

    1. I actually got my undergraduate degree in Political Science so anytime someone says they are about to get political I am all in. We don’t have caucuses where I live so this post was actually very interesting.

      1. I’m so glad you found it interesting. I grew up in a state with a primary, but even after attending the 2016 presidential caucus, the chaos and confusion of this year’s caucus definitely caught me off guard.

  3. Happy Monday and a start of a new week, swimmers! How is everyone doing? 😃

I run a daily blog where I dabble in creative writing through flash fiction and poetry while using British English. Essentially, I am not much different from a dictionary defining a word or a phrase and then using it in an example. Though I’d like to think of myself as more useful than a dictionary if only because my “examples” are longer than five words.

I’ve been in a poetry kick recently, so if that’s your thing, please do check it out! The one today is about having Monday blues. And I wrote one on Saturday that’s very near and dear to my heart.

  4. Congratulations to all the Olympic ice swimmers at Pyeongchang, South Korea

Happily, the waters of Naples, Florida are much warmer, and that’s the nature of my most recent travel post, as Leah and I are on the move again in search of “greener” pastures.

I hope you enjoy For the Love of Money, and can comment accordingly. I look forward to reciprocating when time allows.

  5. Hello Community Pool!

James from James Proclaims here. If you enjoy blogs which serve no meaningful purpose and aren’t really about anything then you might like mine.

I’ve written a lot of stuff recently and some of it might be quite good, (although it’s not for me to say).

I always welcome positive feedback and blindly ignore any kind of criticism so if you like my stuff then feel free to tell me what you think and if you don’t then feel free to not tell me what you think.

  7. Hello,
I started my blog because I got scared of the fact everyone’s going to uni and starting their lives whilst i’m here on a gap year not knowing what I want to do. I thought I love to write and read so why not start a blog and so I got the courage too. I don’t know where this will go but im writing about travel, health and food so if you’re willing to give it a read.
I’d love that and to hear what people think. Hope you’re having a lovely day.

    1. That’s great! Even I was also thinking the same but did it in a different way. I have a page dedicated to such posts i.e. WRITE TO INSPIRE PAGE. Where I link the inspirational posts. Even anyone can leave a link there.
Good luck for this motivational step as we all need lot of inspiration and motivation in today’s stressful life.

    1. Am I missing something? Somehow I did not understand exactly what happened. It would have been better if you included more details.
But I’m glad that you were able to vent. That’s all that matters.

      1. I’m not sure what is not adding up for you about the story. The synopsis is that I was insulted based upon the assumption that I had little or no intelligence based upon my physical disability. After informing me of this, a stranger proceeded to request my assistance in educating her about how to interact with people with disabilities.

      2. ” I was insulted based upon the assumption that I had little or no intelligence based upon my physical disability.” This part. It’s just my curiosity. What made them thing you had little to no intelligence? And how was it related to your disability.
