If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

      2. I wrote a very lengthy reply, but it did not get posted. It might have gone to spam/ moderation. At this point I think it is because of a youtube link that I inserted there. Hopefully Krista can approve it.

      1. I really appreciate it! I hope to get more detailed and expansive in the future, and most importantly manage time so I can keep uploading! Thanks again for the compliment!

      2. Intriguing start! I would recommend filling out your about page, that intro will definitely drive people to check it 🖤

      3. I commented on your page. I read that you did not have much time, but I would like to remind you to edit a few things on your page to make it look better.

First of all, do you know how to see your page through the eyes of other bloggers? Left upper corner, “My site”, go to “view site”. That way you can browse through your page and see what needs polishing.
When one clicks on your “About” page, one sees default text that you should edit. Adding a few words about yourself and what your blog is about (kind of an intro…) is what people usually write there.

On every page of your site there is a “Text widget” on the right, which again, has default text. You can go to “My site” – “Theme” – Customize – “Widget” and delete it or if not edit it. People use this for different things. “Updates” are what some people do, or social media links. Sky’s the limit.

Finally, I’m not sure if your theme allows you to delete these social media icons or not, but if you are going to keep it it might be a good idea to link them to your social media accounts. That can be done in the customizer as well and would definitely help with promoting your blog.

      4. Thank you very much for all the advice! I will get these issues addressed as soon as possible! I really appreciate your time!

      1. Hello, and welcome to the blogging world! Your link directs me to your about page instead of your home page. Your home button leads to your about page as well. Check your settings so your readers can easily see your posts on your home page when they arrive at your blog.

      2. Hmm… just like Priya said below – the link takes us to your “About” page. That isn’t necessarily bad, but I urge you to edit that page and add some info about you/ what your blog will be about.

First of all, do you know how to see your page through the eyes of other bloggers? Left upper corner, “My site”, go to “view site”. That way you can browse through your page and see what needs polishing.

Your “Home” page and your header image both send us to your “About” page. This makes us unable to see your blog posts.

Play with the customizer to make sure that thinks are linked to where you need them to be.

    1. Thank you for all the encouragement! If you’re at all interested in art based storytelling please give my first character introduction a quick glance, and have a great weekend!

    2. Really enjoyed your first post! Absolutely beautiful poetry. As a suggestion, you may want to consider it a stand alone poem and give it a unique name (: Also, your about and contact pages still have the theme’s default information; you can edit this is your customizer.

    3. I really enjoyed your latest poem.

However, there are still a few things that you need to take care of in order to look more polished. Let me explain. Your “About” page and the “Text widget”.

    1. I liked your post, but definitely update the header images. I don’t think that daffodil is the vibe your going for 🖤

    1. Awesome post! You provide incredible insight and valuable details! As a suggestion, consider adding headings throughout the post to keep your readers engaged; or maybe breaking up the post into two. (: Beautiful pictures, by the way!

    2. Great header picture. Great blog name and tagline. The Instagram feed is nice. The social media linked are a great addition. One negative thing – consider adding a “Contact” page in the future. It comes in handy more often than you would think. That way people can shoot you a message about anything/ everything.

    1. Sweet. Really visually appealing blog. The pictures, the colors, the Instagram feed. All great. But… I’d consider adding an “About” page.
Adding a few words about yourself and what your blog is about (kind of an intro…) is what people usually write there. It might come in handy when someone visits and wants to know what kind of posts to expect from you.

    1. Your blog is a great diary maintained which would be great to show once your kid is grown up. I loved the titles and the flow of ideas! 🙂

    1. That’s a great way to channel up everyday positivity. I believe writing in misery can also be a lot more relieving. Loved your site!

    1. Your blog is coming together nicely. Looks like you’ll be posting about things that are right up my alley, so I gave you a follow. One thing you may consider is to use excerpts for your posts on the homepage rather than having the full post display.

    1. Welcome to the community! Had a look at your blog and really like it – just one suggestion. Start categorising your posts as soon as you can, this will allow people to find the content they like quicker and make your blog a little tidier should you start making lots of posts.

    1. You kinda remind me of Eleven from Stranger Things; but haha, I really enjoyed it, Ele! Posts like this are making us all grateful that you have the Internet and a brain! Keep writing!

    1. Hi there – I really enjoyed your blog post! One thing I’d suggest, maybe avoid getting into the habit of creating really long posts, sometimes people like a shorter snippet 🙂

      Liked by 5 people

    2. Great post and pictures. I noticed that you have posts scrolling into the next. It may be easier for the reader to have excerpts of posts so that they can click on the post that they like rather than read the whole scroll.
Blog posts can be the length you choose (you are the writer!) however, I read that it is recommended between 800-900 words max for a post. BUT it is your choice, I frequently double this and have real trouble writing a shorter post. Do what feels right for you. 🙂

  1. Happy February Everyone! I’ve created a new blog for my poetry, musings and creative writing. Previously, I posted my writing on my lifestyle blog but I’ve since decided to “neaten” things up by keeping them separate so I can make things easier for my different audiences. Please do check me out! I will surely do the same🙂

      1. Hello and welcome to the wordpress.
First of all you can write your about page where you can give an idea about your blog. Then you can customise the text widget area.
        This community is really supportive.
        Start writing your first post.
        Happy blogging
        And the journey continues…

    1. Hi Jessika
Just visited your blog. You are doing well and hope you get your driving licence soon. There is a about page. Do write something there, may be about yourself or your blog. Secondly you can add few categories in your menu in future.
      Keep writing and smiling
      And the journey continues….
