Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Hi, I think you need to think about the books that you’re reviewing and what you think your audience wants to read about. As a personal blog, this is you on a page, and your faith and beliefs really shine through, but if you are looking to appeal to a wider audience you need to consider the books which are coming out and that people want to read. Really this is down to the route you want to take your blog in… If you want to continue to be you on a page, then don’t change as this is obviously something you are passionate about. If you want to hit the mark with people with regards to book reviews you may need to widen your scope, look at books that are coming out on the market and review those. Also interacting with people within the blogging community will help shape things for you. Ask in a post what sort of reviews they want to see, get feedback and look at other peoples posts from forums such as this wonderful community pool… Good luck with your blog. 🙂

  1. Hey everyone. I am a new blogger of just a couple weeks. It was a new year resolution of mine to transform my social media so I decided to start blogging! I only have two posts up but I would LOVE for some advice and tips based of my posts or just for new bloggers in general. Open to so much. Thank you!!

    1. Hi, your sidebar image (the one with the cacti) obscures your menus a bit, maybe consider a different image for that area. Your content is well written (although not a subject for my taste). Good luck with your blogging journey 🙂

    1. Hi, I like your writing style, it’s entertaining and you on a page. There are a few things that you can do which could help with following, but it can take a while to get people interested, no matter how great your content is. Interacting with people in the community pool, and visiting/commenting on others blogs will help, tags and categorising also helps (I can’t push the postaday and postaweek tags enough as your posts will show up in the feeds for people who are scanning them), push yourself on your facebook/twitter/instagram accounts… these are all techniques to push up your following. Don’t get disheartened though. I have been blogging about 7 months and only just starting to get an audience who likes to interact and visit my site regularly. Just post regularly and really think about the tags and categories to get your posts in the feeds which apply, this will also assist with outside search engine appearances. Hope this helps (personally I have started following as I look forward to your next post).

    1. Hi, nice writing, and your blog has a nice clean layout. You could consider using a picture to match what you’re writing to catch the readers eye. Also… get your about page filled out… currently it just has the example text in there 🙂 Good luck with the blog.

But, now that i was informed of this community, i just thought, maybe you guys could help me out – read the posts and give feedbacks, for I really do need them… I’ll visit you guys’ pages time and time and help participate as well.
So this is my blog guys – https://inktrailsandmindscapes.wordpress.com.

  7. Good day everyone!
I’m brand new to blogging, but have always wanted to get into it. Finally pulled the trigger today and uploaded a small original ink drawing.
If you’re at all interested in more artistically driven storytelling please give my first character introduction a quick glance, and have an excellent day! Any feedback on how I’ve set my page up would be much appreciated as well. https://mrsamuelhyde.wordpress.com/
