First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

      1. Fashion blogging isn’t my thing bit I respect the DIY creativity and the result looks good. I think this will encourage people to have a go. It’s also clear to see that you have put a lot of effort into taking quality photos to illustrate the post.

      1. Thank you! Sometimes mornings are the very moment when you realize you’ve gotten old and things weren’t as they used to be. Well, for me at least.

    1. Great work Miss M, nice setup and poems. Just curious, why that disclaimer in each post? even if you have to post, probably you could have it as a text widget and display it on your homepage or in the footer. Currently, people can see only our disclaimer on the blogs home page. Just review that. Just my two cents. 🙂
      Cheers!

      1. I still keep a personal journal so I give you kudos for putting your thoughts out there. Also loving the sleek sophisticated look of your blog. Very appealing but not distracting away from the main focus. Keep it up!

    1. Very interesting text 🙂 I have to say that I do feel a bit worried for you reading it, because you do seem to be in love with him and it is hard to be sure that it’s a good idea. Sounds complicated, but I hope it works out for you 😊

    1. Congratulations on your new blog Nishita. Nice first posts and looks very good. But note those social icons on your blogs could be either linked to your social channels or be removed from your blog. Also, your about page needs an edit. Hope you will work on it and make your blog look still better.
      Good luck and keep writing!

    2. I love to read about travels, I can “see” places I never visited yet. I just wish I could have read yours, but couldn’t. Colour choices, text and its background are very unfortunate.

      1. Generally anything else than dark on darker. Also, some people have idea about that Red background with yellow or cyan letters would be great. Uhhhm, no. Tiring.

      1. Hi @KingEbere_

I can’t help but notice you’re leaving the same, short comment on many posts here with an invitation to visit your blog. We call this “drive by faint praise.” This is a spammy practice and we’ll be deleting these comments. To attract readers to your blog, the most important thing you can do is to leave a thoughtful comment for a fellow blogger. Most people are naturally curious about the person who took the time to read their post carefully and offer reflections or a pertinent, respectful question and they’ll want to visit you in return.

    3. Hey there, nice post! I can definitely relate to the risk taking mentality (and a father advising against it ;D ) You’ve got a really nice cover photo but I have to agree with others that dark letters against a dark background make it a bit difficult to read. Looking forward to more posts from you.

      1. Thank you! Haha if you’re comfortable enough to do that then the support must be really good, I guess that’s what I’m without! Although everyone on here is very supportive!

      2. I don’t have many friends and family who read it, but they see that I share the occasional post on Facebook, I’ve some that are happy to read posts that interest only, one or two who will read all. (My twin hasn’t read a single post!) 🙂

    1. Hi, you don’t have an About page. Lots of bloggers will stop by this page to find out more about you before heading off to investigate the rest of your posts, so I highly recommend spending some time doing one.
