First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Great start! I’ve not read a wedding planning blog before 🙂
I suggest adding a picture or two as these help break up the text a little and you still have an empty ‘About’ page that you can write up about yourself. 🙂

  2. Happy Friday Bloggers!

Please note that we moderate this space heavily and so a gentle reminder: please do not share posts older than one month, or share posts repeatedly. We’ll remove old posts and duplicates to keep this space open for brand-new bloggers.

If you’ve got a bunch of posts under your blogging belt please check out the Community Pool, which is a space for bloggers of all stripes and levels of experience to get feedback on their blog or its content.

      1. Hello @Pinx,

Great to see your enthusiasm here at FF. When commenting, please don’t leave a link to your site as part of your comment signature. It’s a little spammy to include it as your handle already links to your site. We delete these additional links. Thanks for understanding!

      1. Of course! Type in your website name in the address bar followed by /wp-admin This should take you to your dashboard. Then click on Appearance –> Customize –> Widgets –> Add a Widget, then there should be an option to add a “Follow Blog” button. Let me know if it worked!

      2. Hm. I see a “follow blog” button as well as a “follow button.” There’s a search bar in that menu where you can search widgets. See if it comes up that way. Otherwise, you can go to your dashboard –> Appearance –> Widgets and add it that way.

    1. Great post! Love a bit of royal anything. I’ve a Diana dresses exhibition post and I visited Kensington Palace the day before they announced the engagement! Thankfully I did not get caught up in the media scrum, sadly Harry and Meghan walked through the exact gate where I stood to take a photo of the sunken garden! 🙂
One little thing you may want to edit – the photos I believe were taken at Frogmore House near Windsor Castle and not Kensington.

    1. From one sufferer to another, there can never be enough personal perceptions out there. It’s good to say how you deal with things as someone, somewhere will relate and benefit!
      Great work x

    1. Good luck for this year! The Silence of the Lambs is one of my favourites. But TBH I’m rubbish at watching films.
Films I’ve fallen asleep watching: Blade Trinity, Men in Black Two, James and the Giant Peach, Power Rangers, Solaris – I’m sure there are more! 🙂

  4. Hi everyone… so I’ve been at this a week now and have been nominated by an old school friend for the Leibster Award, an award for new bloggers! Part of being nominated, is to nominate 11 other new bloggers!
So, I don’t have 11 new blogger friends yet, so I’m going to use the last few daily post first Friday feeds to read as many blogs as I can, and nominate my favourite 11… I am really looking forward to go through all the blogs on here…
I’ll leave you with my latest post, hope you enjoy x

    1. Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! And congrats on your award! 🙂 I think you’ll gather a strong following as you continue forward because your writing is honest and approachable. While I’m not a mother, I still appreciated your perspective. All the best! 💫

      1. Thanks for the encouragement! I’ve had so many positive comments this last week, it’s such a boost… I always thought my writing was just a scrambled mess of what my brain looks like on paper! 🙈

    2. You have an awesome blog for only doing this a week! I’m also new to this, been at it about 2 weeks or so! My blog is about the challenges of being a breastfeeding and working mom! Pumpingismyjob.wordpress.com

    1. Awesome! As a fellow traveler, I love reading travel content! Also, you have the default text widget on your side bar. You can edit it or remove it in the Widget section of your Customizer.

  5. Hello hello! I am a brand new blog where I am planning on doing something new for 30 days straight. For these next 30 days, I am going to be doing yoga each day (since I’ve never done yoga before this should be a fun journey). Here’s my first blog post – I have a couple up from my first few days of doing yoga each day. I’m definitely looking for more ideas for next month’s 30 day challenge, so definitely leave me some comments if you have any! https://30daysoftrials.wordpress.com/2018/01/11/first-blog-post/

    1. Hi, great start! You may like to categorise your posts because as the site grows it’s good to have them ‘filed’ neatly for you or your readers to locate articles that they are interested in.
You have a text widget on the right hand side of the page that you can remove with the customiser and your About page is empty. Readers do check out the About page to find a little bit more about the author.
      Hope this helps 🙂

      1. I haven’t touched on vlogging, but with product reviews i’ve seen vlogged, just be yourself, pre-list things that you want to say about it & enjoy it!

      1. Click on it and I think ‘edit’ – then trash. Can’t remember myself.
Try clicking on my site top left hand corner, you get a list appear, choose blog posts – does it appear there? If so, that should give you the option to click on it and trash.
