To find, copy, and paste your link:

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

    1. Loved your first post. I didn’t see a “like” button, which I found a little disappointing, otherwise, insightful list!

  1. Hello and welcome, new folks! We’re really excited to meet you.

As usual, I just want to remind everyone that we moderate the comments on First Friday pretty heavily — this is really a space for brand new people to introduce themselves and meet one another, and for others to welcome and support them.

If you’re not here to either share your (recent) first post or leave a supportive comment, please head to the Community Pool, which is where any blogger can seek feedback on any aspect of blogging. And if you’re not sure what the guidelines here are, please read the above post — or just ask!

    Happy blogging, y’all:)

    1. Hi, I clicked on your link and it didn’t work it took me to a write post page. Did you copy and paste the URL to your latest post?
I think your premise is a really good idea as your blog could be written like a journal to become the basis of the memoir – can’t wait to read it. 🙂

      1. Hi, I read your post and I’m sorry that you have to go through this, but I think with your goal you are keeping things positive and I’ve read that really does help.
Your post is fine – you may like to add a picture or two as this breaks up the text, but your paragraphs are a good length and so the page doesn’t feel too ‘wordy’.
You have not yet filled in your about page. Readers do check this out to find out more about the author. Sometimes the first blog post is ideal for this! I read mine earlier this week and it would help to make my miserable about page a little better, I might change it at some point. 🙂
        Hope this helps 🙂

      1. I am also primarily interested in polishing my writing and have no idea how to make my blog pretty. I’m currently pinching pennies to get a paid version and see what I can add to make it pretty and flow nicely. I’m sure as long as I fail forward, it can be learned. lol

    1. Great post! I don’t think you much to worry about ‘pretty’ it looks ok. You can add extra widgets by customising side-bar and footer, I think depending on theme.
Also you did the right thing with paragraph length as shorter paragraphs break up the text. I suggest a picture or two to break up the text and that will improve the aesthetic.

Also (again), when looking at widgets, think about archives, categories and tags, (I didn’t see any) they are really useful for sorting your posts as your site develops. Categories and tags also help your posts during internet searches – any more than 15 combined though, and it’ll block as an anti-spam filter.
Great start – good luck with the diet. 🙂

  2. I am starting a blog about my ramblings about being a writer. For someone who uses words constantly, I am not good with them when it comes to self-promotion. Read if you want, and if not, that’s cool too!

Pen and paper, peace and quiet. If you got some time to spare, maybe we could just fall in love. My love for you grows stronger everyday. I’m just searching for the truth. I’m not just here for the honeymoon, but for always. Pen, your ink bleeds for my paper.

Hello beautiful people 😁. I hope you enjoy my first post. Above is the link.

    Stay awesome.

    1. Welcome 🙂

If you look over to the right of your posts, you’ll see a bit of placeholder text — it’s meant to help you learn how to work with widgets, and you can remove or edit that by going to My Site > Customize > Widgets. Look for the Text Widget!

    1. You can follow the word of the day prompts however, I find it best to write about what moves my own heart strings. If there is something you have a passion for write about that. Last, what have people in your circle of friends asked you about? I am often asked to write my memories, recipes I have tried and love, book reviews, and how God has moved in my life. Some of them seem to personal to share but others are not. Usually if one or more of your friends is interested in something about you, others will be also, it’s up to you to decide how much you want to put out there. Hope that helps.

      1. I just wrote a quick short hand on allergic, part of my weird medical quirks, in response to the daily prompt. This was my first response to a daily prompt. I’ve found the more you write, the more ideas will flow as well. I can see why people get addicted to blogging. haha

    2. Well, first you should think about what kind of things you like to write about.
Second, you should find your style of writing, what suits you best? Short stories, poetry, lifestyle blogging.

And the last thing I can tell you is read! 😀
