To find, copy, and paste your link:

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Hi! I enjoyed your post because it was an orderly format and informative! 🙂 I think your suggestions would be useful for any person improving grammar or learning any new language! I thought they were awesome suggestions/guides for myself to finesse some languages I sort of know. Thanks for the share!

    2. Hi, great post, I just wanted to add a couple more things but the comment section would not let me log in . . . (I’m already logged in on my account, tried 3 times then gave up).
      1) e-books – if you use Kindle (not sure about others) you can highlight a difficult word and a definition will pop-up from the thesaurus.
      2) If you are not sure of pronunciations you can Google the required word and an option will come up to the right of the definition for it to be spoken to you. Just click on the speaker icon – great tool!

    3. Heyy.! Those are good tips for creating a base.. but the tone, the sentence structure in most of the action/comedy hollywood films is not appropriate for correct and fluent English speaking. But except that, other tips are well recommended

    4. Hi! You’ve got some nice, basic concepts there. Good start! If I may make a suggestion? I’m looking at your “About” page thinking you may want to consider rephrasing “women from backward areas” to something a little more neutral. Maybe it’s just me, but if I were from an area with different priorities, I might be offended at being called “backwards” and immediately dismiss your advice. Just a thought.

      1. Thank you very much for your kind words. The last sentence is for an open interpretation with one clue that whatever is in the paper, it has his identity and he is proud of the happening in that news. And of course it has something to do with the incident from his past. And thank you again for reading. Cheers.

    1. I like the simplicity of the blog and I like the content! You do have a text widget on the right hand side that I would suggest you edit. But other than that the blog looks great!

    2. I love this! And I can totally relate. In my country we still face a lot of arranged marriages by tradition and it’s still a very heated topic of discussion here. Love the simplicity of your writing! Keep it up 😊 Following you for sure!

      1. Wow! Love your page already! The images and recipes look great. Already going to cook the snacking chilli chick peas tonight for work snacks tomoro!
A quick question… what widget did you download for the Instagram icon that takes you to your IG account? I’ve been trying to do that for days!
Definitely looking forward to following your posts x

      2. You go to customize, then click on widgets. I chose to add it to as a footer. You will be asked to link your IG account and will have to sign in. I hope this helps!

    1. Advice on how to lay out a book review? Ultimately that’s your choice – it’s your blog. However, a quick trip around WordPress should give you some ideas on how you will ultimately shape your blog. Search for book blogs here on WordPress – there are quite a few, but don’t let that discourage you at all. In fact, something cool will happen – by seeing others’ voices on their blogs, you end up developing your own blog voice (as you write). You’ll notice that without thinking about it, you are still writing a book blog similar to others’ blogs, but with a truly authentic voice.

      1. Thanks a lot 🙂 I’ll keep checking out other blogs, having an authentic voice as I write is something I’m definitely keen to do! Appreciate your comment.

    2. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, rather than easier.

      Welcome!

      Liked by 4 people

      1. Hi Michelle thanks for your comment! So I should only use up to 15 tags? And what is the purpose of a category? Is it just to essentially organise your blog into sections? Thanks a lot and sorry I’m slightly clueless !

        Liked by 1 person

      2. This might help:

Tags help readers find your blog.
Categories help people already on your blog find specific things on your blog.

If you wrote a post about your favorite movies, you might give it the tag “movies” so people searching for posts about movies in the Reader can find you. Then, you might give it categories like “Comedy” and “Action” so the people already on your blog who are looking for specific kinds of posts can find it.

Some folks use both, some only use one or the other — it’s up to you.

Make sense? Make sure you have fewer than 15 total — tags and categories, combined — and you’ll be all set.

  4. Good morning! I decided to give this blog thing a shot, mostly in the dark. I am hoping to build and become part of a community of people who can share their experiences of continuously getting fired for whatever reason(s), losing sanity to the point of walking out of a job, or other issues that create roadblocks when it comes time to finding a new job or career. This is obviously just an intro page and any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you to all.

    1. Sorry to bombard this post but I am having trouble editing my page. This is a link to my first, and so far only, post. When I open it the words “This is the post excerpt” appear on the page. I am aware it is the post excerpt but unaware how to remove these words as they don’t load when I open the page for editing. Thank you …. also, if there is a more appropriate place to post these type of messages I’d love to know, as I am unfamiliar with this realm of the interweb

    1. Your blog looks like you’ve got some long-range plans for it. Hope it fills up with useful resources for other teachers as well. (your About section is fine, especially since you’ve just started – you’ll be changing it quite a few times over your blogging, just watch)

      1. Thank you for your comment and your attention) Yep, I do hope I’ll be filling up it with useful info for teachers. Also I’m planning to write some articles or just thoughts I can’t share with my colleagues…

      1. Thank you very much for this reply. My band has not got a great following yet, I programmed the right bands who do. What is the name of your band? Can I find you on youtube?

      2. Im a solo artist I rap and sing not too much a big following base either still working on it tho, but nothing on YouTube as of yet but I do have music posted on my sound cloud that you can go listen to just look up my name Astra Planez, but what about your band are you on YouTube?

      3. Just looked you up. I know next to nothing about rap, but to my it sounds good and catchy. There is a very big rap scene, right? Must be tough to stand out. You have a cool name as well. Yes, we are on youtube and soundcloud. By the way … never listen to Dutch rap … it is terrible with a capital T.

      4. Thank you I appreciate your feedback.. Yes it is very hard to stand out thats where originality plays is part. Just me being myself alone will make me stand out. But I will go check you out on YouTube as well lol I’ll keep that in mind no Dutch rap 😉

      5. Rap is hip and happening at the moment, isn’t it? How long have you been doing this? It sounds like you have more people helping you out. No Dutch rap ever … haha

      6. Yea rap is what’s hip at the moment right now.. I’ve been writing songs and music for about 10 years and have been t off and on for about 5 years, just started actually taking it serious and decided to pursue it..

        Liked by 2 people

      7. Lol this is actually good it’s informative about how horrible Dutch is but it also shows that you have a range for music so I think this is great , thanks for sharing it with me

        Liked by 1 person

      8. Yes it does relate because a majority of rappers just go off of that is already being heard in the rap game that is hot and go talk about the same things that other rappers talk about , they all use social media as a leverage and yes they do video everything .. I like how you show the variety in your band , hip hop does have a variety but the problem now days is the repetition in the music and lack of originality and talent

        Liked by 1 person

      9. Yeah. I understand the problem with variety. Soon people are going to be bored with it and will want new stuff. I am still hoping that more rock bands are going to collaborate with rappers. That way you could have the best of both worlds.

    2. Your content and style is great, of course. Take a look at the other themes (many are free) it will compact each of your posts. Also, there is not a “like” button, I’m not sure if that is associated with the theme or not.

    3. Hi again, great post, I look forward to reading more of your work. The paranoia that you suggest social media drives is so real! My boss said ‘get well soon’ to me this week when I called in sick again…you can imagine how many times I’ve thought that was really a sarcastic ‘get well’ . . .
