To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    Poetry has always helped me understand my own beliefs and feelings better. It has always helped me portray the strongest of feelings in their best forms.

  3. Good day to all my fellow swimmers/waders/divers,
    Today, marks nine months on the road crisscrossing America, in search of…!
    The weeks have flown by, generating so much fodder for pictures and words.
    Last week was unusual for its highs and lows, which I attempted to convey in my posts.
    A visit with Dad on his 93rd birthday proved melancholy and bittersweet:

      2. Your blog is perfect for aspiring bikers. It shows how much there is to see on 2 wheels. For now, I will stick to biking in the summer in perfect weather conditions on paved roads. Hahah. But you are definitely someone to look up to in the future.

    1. Wow, that is an interesting story, Ida, a turning point in your life. He could have accepted your e-mail decision, I guess, and things would have turned out very different perhaps. The last paragraph was intriguing.

      1. Thank you! I’m so glad he didn’t. I can be very stubborn and inflexible at times, but luckily he can be even more stubborn. He also knows how to remind me that my feelings are important; that sometimes the reasonable thing to do is *not* the right thing to do…

  6. I love meaningful abstracts and also create some(not necessarily meaningful). This virtual space is going to be filled with articles on random topics (mostly unrelatable or out of any living person’s concern) and in case I am feeling a bit too artistic, then you may be able to witness some poetry too(not necessarily bounded by the rhymes). Anyways don’t bind yourself with any expectations.

  7. How’s everyone’s Monday going so far? Swimmingly I hope! 😅😁

    I run a creative writing blog with daily posts, specifically about the British English language. Basically I post a word or phrase of the day, define it, and give an example. Unlike any dictionary definitions, my “examples” are the creative writing bits and are all original content.

    Today I’ve started a new mini series. It’s a twist on superpowers.

    1. I like your approach. I have never made formal resolutions for the New Year. I just make realistic challenges to myself, and usually in relation to the previous year. For example, this year I did not see much live music, so I want to change that for next year. It seems more realistic than ‘Lose 10 lbs, take up skydiving, write a novel…
      PS, nice blog by the way.

        I haven’t yet read any modern retellings of Pride And Prejudice but, I do want to read Mr. Darcy’s Diary by Amanda Grange. And, have you heard about Pride And Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith?! Well, that’s probably one book I surely want to get my hands on!
