Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I think it was okay!
If you feel something is missing, you can try and put the last line ‘that’s value right there’ in the next line.. like separate it from the previous line..
That should do the trick I hope!🌸

  1. HelloWordPress bloggers!!!

Recently I have published travel post about magnificent archipelago of Socotra. Unfortunately due to the civil war in the Yemen this unique piece of land is unreachable. Nevertheless I would like to share the information and photos with you. Please feel free to leave a comment under the post I you wish.

    1. I thought your content was wonderful and your writing style was easy to read. The overall theme of your blog is very fitting to what it seems you’re trying to accomplish. I greatly appreciate someone’s willingness to stand up to injustice in a way that is rightly angry, but that doesn’t fuel the violent hatred that is so prevalent in most conflicts. One common suggestion is that readers seem to respond better to post that break up the text into smaller chunks and incorporate photos throughout. I personally thought the way you formatted this piece was perfect, but that’s just a thought to keep in mind that may be of use in later posts. Overall, I very much enjoyed reading your post.

    1. Just read the first part of it and it is so intriguing! I am eager to learn more about what is happening. I loved the part about flipping the lens. The only critique I would have is that maybe some of it is a little too descriptive for my taste but a lot of people really like that.

    1. Hi, the link you posted doesn’t work but I found the post on your site.
I am hoping to go to Santorini in 2018 / 2019 and haven’t decided yet whether to stay in Imerovigli or Oia.
Your photos make it all look lovely!

    1. I considered it for a brief second, but aside from the fact that it does not fit my blog style and that I was late to the table, I know I would not be able to complete it this time around. Maybe next year.

      1. I never even considered it might be distracting, thanks for the input! Yea, I usually type my posts on a word document first and then play around with different fonts until I find one I think suits the poem/ topic.

  6. Hello Friends!

My name is the 6 Million P Man (not really it’s Ed but that’s the name I go by) and I am a photographer both of film and digital although as much as I can I prefer to shoot just film. Why don’t you check out my photo heavy blog and let me know what you think? Perhaps you’ll see something you like?

    I’ll get you started; these are a couple of links to some medium format images I regularly post, hence the numbering system of the title;

There’s plenty more so if you like that feel free to have a wander around my site and let me know what you think.

    Thanks

  7. Hi guys! I started my blog in April and was wondering if anyone would be willing to give me some advice on it all. Are my posts well written? Does my layout fit my theme? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    2. Hello! I just read your mascara post – my eyelashes are beyond crap so I’ll take all the tips I can get. I would try to include a few more images so that you can illustrate the ‘looks’ you are talking about. You could also even include some wee videos of you using/testing looks and products in the post. Keep going- I like it! 🙂

    1. I think your blog is adorable and so much fun to read. I was nodding my head along with every word, as I read about your interview process. Thankfully my awkward experience wasn’t face to face, but I’ve read some questions on a paper application that were incredibly personal. Definitely not something I wanted to answer to a complete stranger who shouldn’t be asking. I very much enjoyed the read, and I hope you found a better job than that one!
