Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Hi, I love the colours of your blog – very pleasing on the eyes.
I would suggest adding categories, archives, tags, social links etc. in a side bar, just because if you scroll down too far you get bored. If it’s sitting near your search box on the right a reader has to option to navigate your site quickly.
Great start – you may like to read my latest post too!

    2. Awesome blog. Your posts are nice, easy reads and the pictures you use add a great pop of color and have a cool painterly aesthetic.
I would also appreciate it very much if you checked out my blog. I did a couple of reviews of Studio Ghibli movies that I’m proud of so I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  1. I’ve started posting a little more often lately after a quiet couple of months, and once again I am wondering how to get the attention of bloggers who write about other bloggers, especially those who write about humor blogs/sites. It seems like a chicken and egg scenario where traffic is needed to get reviews but reviews are needed to get traffic, and if anyone knows how to break that cycle of obscurity I am open to advice.

Out of my four posts from the past few days, this was probably the best one: https://totesrealnews.com/2017/12/01/trump-denies-having-ever-been-president/

      1. I am in some facebook groups, but I don’t think I’ve found the right community for sharing what I write. Facebook also seems to have a tendency to hide promotional posts which are not boosted.

      2. It’s definitely hard to keep the momentum going. I understand! I wish I had a good suggestion for you for a specific group, but I’ve found that I fall more into the mom blog humor category. You might be able to find a list of groups on Pinterest though. That’s where I found a couple of my groups. The best one came about really organically though from people who followed my blog on WordPress.

      3. There definitely is more of a community for mom blogs. I searched facebook for humor blog groups and found a big one for mommy blogs, but not much for general humor. And mine is definitely not a mommy blog.

      4. The only time I had a post go anywhere close to viral, it was reblogged by some sort of journalism blog and then got 2000 views overnight and 20,000 by the end of the day. Mostly from FB shares by people I don’t know, and maybe some from Reddit. I’ve never had more than 600 views on a post apart from that one, and most are under 100 views.

      1. I am. Musicals are capable of so much. The dance, the spectacle, the comedy, the romance, the positive and negative emotions in the score and the strong emotional connection. ALL musicals are joyful in my eyes, but MOST are happy

  3. Hello everyone! I have a new blog, though I’m not new to WordPress.

I am a new soon-to-be-mom who writes poetry and is also going to therapy for Dissociative Identity Disorder. My blog is brand new but I’m looking forward to filling the pages ❤ I'd love for you to come check it out, and I will also follow in return.

    Thank you!

    1. I greatly enjoy your writing style – it’s history, sure, but even though it’s a personal history it doesn’t feel so dry like quite a few lectures I’ve sat through. It almost reads like a history podcast or a documentary (both of which I particularly enjoy).

  5. Hi

You didn’t leave a name, so I’m going to call you Simon the Apostle,

I just wanted to say thank you foe your email, I actually finally got some time ( i had to force myself really) to myself and sat down and went through a couple of emails.

I wanted to say thank you for the information, I’m sure if i put my mind to it (cant be that hard, but then we are talking about me) i can make progress, many times I’ve wanted to explain how i was feeling to the community when i was feeling it. I often philosophy on my own, sometimes i can really reason with my strange existence.

I’m actually talking to Mark, but sometimes i just waffle.

So Simon, it was very nice speaking to you today and i have no doubt another bright idea or just a bit of friendly advice will return in my inbox

But don’t be surprised it you get lost occasionally as emails often dp

Kind regards Patricia Roche Christ’s Church

      1. I have visited your blog before, I believe I commented on your posts. One that intrigued me actually regarding one of your posts back in October on a poem you had written. I’m sorry. 😞

      2. (This is not about Rosie!!!) But I share your sentiment, Novus Lectio. Every week I see some people simply spam EVERYONE’S comments in search for more views for themselves. They often do not leave any feedback for you. It is a bit sad, because in my opinion, it degrades WP into yet another social media platform.

        Liked by 4 people

      3. No. Someone else does it week in and week out and I actually lost my other notifications (comments and likes from other people) due to his spam. Can;t find them anywhere. I knew they came, cause I saw, but did not read…. Ideas?!?!?

      4. Check your spam filter ? Have you checked your ‘my site’ comments? I was ‘stalked’ 3 times on First Friday (on Sunday) with random ‘want fun’ comments. I gave up. I probably have the same people as you like everything too.

      5. Yes, checked my site comments, checked the “comments i’ve made” on the dashboard. The missing comments dont show up in the my site comments menu. My dashboard does not seem to be able to show me any comments I have made past the last few. It seems like maybe my page is overloaded (because I even have a hard time typing a comment, but no problems on other websites). I will just go to bed and hope everything resolves itself magically tomorrow.

I am trying to find out what to do about such people, btw. This is not only annoying, but disruptive.

      6. Agree to the disruptive . . . if say I have 20 interactions on CP and then one person spam ‘likes’ each one . . . and then another 2 regulars do the same . . . that’s 60 spam notifications. I admit I just swear and my phone and put it down and wait for the people who have actually read my post.

  8. Happy Monday! Hope the start of the week is going well for y’all.. mine has begun pretty drastically to say the least 😫

My most recent blog is about fashion. Very different from the norm, but essentially I’m exploring why some people long to buy expensive designers such as Gucci and how popular culture has led to a lot of young adults living beyond their means.

What are your thoughts guys? When buying items do you look at the label or do you buy based on your budget?

    https://victoriasbubble.blog/2017/11/12/lets-talk-about-branding-high-end-vs-high-street-fashion/

Please leave your thoughts on my blog and I’ll be sure to do the same

    Sending positivity,
    V.O.L
