First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. I just finished reading. This isn’t the usual style of blog I usually set out to read BUT it is well written and I don’t know if its just my mood or my hormones but the line where the lady tells you you’re beautiful got to me. Definitely a statement to the piece. You got to my emotions which makes a good writer!!! Good job keep writing! 🙂

  2. Hello! I started my very own photography blog/portfolio~
I will mostly post photos or stories accompanying the photos, not to the extent of a photo essay (but I’d love to do one!) though… So if any of you guys are also into that kind of style, please do check it out and leave me some words so I can check your blogs too 🙂

My first post, apparently, is an entry for the wpc haha

    1. Welcome!

FYI: that link goes to your dashboard, which is private, so people won’t be able to see your site. The simplest way to get a public link to one of your posts is to go to your blog’s homepage and click on a post title. Then, copy the address you see in your browser’s address bar and use that.

      Here’s your homepage: http://www.cubanamericandiva.com/

  3. Hello community, I’d like to start off by saying I’m humbled after reading some of the other first timers’ posts and aspire to be half as good in the future. With that said, this is my first interaction with the community and would like your help with my plan to write more. My plan is to use a blog as a piece of exercise equipment to strengthen my writing skills. In time I hope to get some “sick gains”. I learned that lingo at Planet Fitness’ Pizza Friday, and yes they have a pizza day at a gym. And why not? It’s no different than clowns at the circus. One minute your having a great time watching trapeze artist risking their lives for your entertainment. The next minute Mr. Giggles is in your personal bubble honking his horn at you and yelling “You want this wiener dog little boy.” Now your life is at risk. Jeez, thanks mom for taking me to the circus for my birthday.

Childhood hang ups aside, I know the internet is known for withholding opinions and dancing around subjects, but I’d like to test myself and would like feedback. The good, the bad and the ugly on my posts will help me to gain insight on improving my skill.
This introduction counts as my second post which means this link below is some newbie stuff. In my defense I was young and foolish and was in a different place in my life at the time I wrote it – work. So join me on my adventure through the Self-deprecating Forest, the Great Depression Valley and finally the mountain top of Mount Olympus. That’s where I’ll be holding a Coke in one hand and a meatball sub in the other.

    A Thousand Miles.

  5. Hello everyone. I started my blog earlier this week, and this is the link to my first post (I hope its the link) https://mydaisydaze.com/this-has-been/
And I didn’t read the instructions that said your posts should be the first page and my About is the first page so if anyone can help me fix that I’d appreciate it.
    Feedback is gratefully accepted.
    Thanks.

  6. Hello everyone! I decided to make a blog the other day, however, it had been on my mind for quite awhile now. Just wanted to introduce myself here and hope you check out my blog. The general premises is that I am going to try and get a bucket list going and to document my journey or experiences. Tips, feedback, comments, etc are more than welcome.

    Well, here I am…
