If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hey there! I’m new to the world of blogging, and I like what I’m reading so far. This is a great community of writers, and I hope to add some pawsitivity to everyone’s lives by sharing my experiences with my dog, Ted. Have I mentioned I’m obsessed with Ellen DeGeneres as well? I’ve blogged about that . . . hope to see you around!

  3. Hello. A lot of wonderful blogs here. I have recently started a Graphic Design Blog where I share my two cents about design and creativity, link to graphic design freebies scattered around the web and inspiration gallery. I’d love some feedback. ☺️

  4. Hi everyone! I literally wrote this post like 10 minutes ago and it’s Saturday now but it’s probably still Friday somewhere in the world.
My blog will just be about things that are important to me rather than a set theme, here’s my first post if you’d like to check it out: https://katiekonline.wordpress.com/2017/11/18/looks-like-blogging-is-a-thing-that-i-am-doing-now/
Let me know if you read it so I can read your posts too!

    1. Hi, fab post! You’ve made a great start – you still need to customise some of your page – where you can add your social media, archives, categories and tags etc.

I look forward to psychology and neuroscience (in small none-sciency doses – for my poor brain!)
      Happy blogging.

    1. Welcome!

FYI, you can give your blog any title you want — just because your address is taani218769952 doesn’t mean that has to be your blog’s title!

You can change it to anything you like by going to My Site > Customize > Site Identity.

    1. Well done on getting past a cardiac. That’s got to be a real job…anyway, since this is a blog along a journey, I hope you don’t run low on material. It looks like you’re going to be learning a lot and experiencing a lot, so a lot your near future is fair game for blogging material.

By the way, you may also want to look for other running blogs (and there are quite a few here in WordPress) and start commenting on them. They’ll start heading your way too – it’s a good way to network.

      1. Thanks for the positive comment, yes it will be a challenge in more ways than one but one I am looking forward to.

Yes I will be looking for similar/running blogs to follow but many thanks for the advice. Very much appreciated

      2. Hi, Jonny! I really appreciate how you’re so consistently supportive of new folks here, and I know they are, too.

Would you mind not including a link to your blog in every comment? Folks can find you by clicking on your name, and the repeated links distract from the many brand new folks who are looking for their first views and comments; we try to keep this space as focused as possible on them. Thanks!

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags and categories on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

    1. Search for other WordPress blogs, especially if they’re a target audience, and leave comments. Comment on First Fridays and Community Pools, post on Daily Posts, and all-in-all stay active.

Fixing up your About pages couldn’t hurt – get people to know who you are!
