Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Happy Daylight Savings Time!

For me, it was an extra hour to blog!

It’s been a busy week, traveling between Branson and Nashville, with stops in St. Louis and Dover, TN.

In case you missed it, these are the highlights:

    1. I like the look of your blog! Clicked on a couple of different months in the Archive and it all works. The images were a tad slow to appear but it could be my wifi, they did show up eventually. All in all its good! Left a comment on a post as well 🙂

      1. Thank you!! I had feedback from this community pool to post fewer, but larger photos, so that is what I’ve been trying to do, I’ll take a peek at yours too. 🙂

    1. YOUR PICTURES CAME OUT SO AMAZING, although if I may suggest the layout looks a lil off beat, the pictures are extremely small compared to the text, it looks a lil clumsy but other than that, you’re doing an amazing job. 🌟😍

      1. Thanks Sandeep!
Are you viewing it on a mobile or on a computer? I think you are right and that it looks really strange when viewed on mobile devices. I should work out how to improve that next!

  2. Hi every swimmer! 😃

So I hit a fairly large milestone yesterday: my 200th post!! It’s been an intriguing journey, writing flash fiction pieces and poems every single day. I’ll admit it has been a struggle; at the same time, it’s been pure joy. I couldn’t have done a lot of it without the encouragement from you lovely people! ❤️

As a special treat, I uploaded two posts yesterday. The first happens to be the two hundredth and then after is the combined poem. The combined poem only uses words 101-200. Please come by and check it out! ☺️

      1. Oh gosh. It blows MY mind every single day. I think the biggest thing I have learned from my last several months blogging definitely has to do with building a community. So following other blogs and commenting on them. And when someone leaves comments on my blog, I make sure to communicate back.

      1. Ah, you’re making me blush! THANK YOU! I absolutely had to start with the “thank you” paragraph because I would literally be nowhere without all the kind, lovely people that follow and read and like and comment. It’s just a small piece of me attempting to let everyone know I see them and they matter! ❤️ Thank you!! ☺️😊

      1. Thanks LaToya. I visited your page and enjoyed the Christmas savings plan- you should revisit that in January as it can mean either plenty more savings or less of an impact on normal disposable income.

      1. What a simple yet lovely compliment. Had a quick look at your blog- yay for Next clothing. Although my wife and I often use Sainsbury’s and Asda for convenience.

    1. This is an awesome post! Just what I–and probably ever other U.S. resident–needed! Of course, your tomato is much more than just a tomato–but a tomato is very important. We’re just gathering our last of the season from our backyard garden here in MD. Can’t wait to see what your future posts hold–I’m following!

  4. What if happiness isn’t about the things we need to get but the things we need to give up?

I speak about this with Luminita D. Saviuc in the latest episode of the My Instruction Manual podcast – brand new today!

    https://myinstructionmanual.com/2017/11/06/luminita-d-saviuc-give-things-happy/

Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

A couple other things: 1) I’m going to be interviewing bloggers for the podcast as I did at the end of episode 3. Let me know if you think you have a great story that should be featured on the podcast. 2) I’m giving away free copies of some of my books. Listen to the end of episode 1 or 2 to find out how to get one.

    1. I’m so impressed. I hadn’t listened to one of your podcasts until today. You’re a great interviewer–if I remember correctly, you were/are a journalist, so I guess that figures–and your “radio” voice is wonderful. What an inspiring guest. Following!

  6. Hey what’s up! I’m a new blogger, and I only have three posts as of yet, but I’d love some feedback on how I can improve it! Also, some constructive compliments would be accepted. (Haha.. get it.. Michael Scott quote.. The Office) Never mind, I’m sure most of you wouldn’t get these vague TV references. So. Check the blog if you can!

  7. Hello new bloggers. Any fellow university students out there? I’ve found that blogging can be a great way to help with essay writing – take a short break from uni work and get creative or write about something that interests you. Your uni work will likely benefit from it!

Here’s a post I wrote last night after watching the spectacular bonfire night fireworks on my campus in Lancaster UK. Hope you like.

    1. Not always though. I still find myself struggling with structured writing like essays and project documentation. But that said, I find myself struggling less than my non-blogging classmates 😀
