To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. Hello @theblankpage,
I just took a look at your first post. Nice writing. I didn’t see a ‘like’ button though…if it is not intentional, maybe you should consider adding one.
      Have a blessed day.

    2. You write good content, and the layout is easy on the eyes too. Since you’re new, I suggest you explore your chosen theme and edit some things. I noticed your About page still has the default text and below the Home pge there is a text widget which also shows a default text. Other than that, I think you have a good start. Keep writing! 🌻

    1. Your blog looks good. I had one suggestion: Try adding excerpts of your posts to the homepage instead of the whole post, makes it faster to load the page. Bloggers can always click on the post to read more 🙂

    1. I loved your blog page… Nice captured photos…. My apology will you accept my suggestions? Put some menus and widgets to beautify your page. Learn some from pro bloggers, I mean try to observe their blog page and copy their ideas on how they designed it….

Or maybe for easy checking, you can check my blog page and observed on how I was developed my blog page in 3 weeks. I learned from the advice here and from observing of someone else’s blog page. Good luck!

  2. hi, all! I’m relatively new at this, within the last couple of weeks. I just wanted to say THANK YOU WordPress for making this available. I love all the encouragement all of the writers give to one another! I would love to hear some feedback on my page and the blogs i’ve written so far but feel like I’m not quite smart enough to set up the “pingbacks” or links correctly to have my blog appear in the comments on the daily word. I’ve read the instructions on doing it, and thought that i did everything correctly, but my blog never shows up in the comments. (Can someone please advise? (“Identity” was one, and “Surreal” was another). thanks! Sharon

    1. Hi Sharon, it’s not you, it’s the pingbacks! They are moody and sometimes behave poorly. I checked “Surreal” and see that you’ve set up the link correctly, though the post is not showing up on the grid.

I have one suggestion: open up Surreal and click Update on the post. (You don’t actually have to make any changes to it, but that action will refire the pingback.) Unfortunately, we’re not able to devote any time to fixing the irregularities in pingbacks.
