If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

      1. You just have to see through other columns and blogging sites and then try towrite about something by getting inspiration by those blogs. You will learn a lot about writing a good blog and with time you will surely improve.

    1. Good Morning and Welcome! That’s a great picture of friends on your blog. The smiles just draw a person right in. It seems like you are all at an exciting turning point of life and I hope you all hold tight to your friendships as you get head your separate ways on life’s journey.

One suggestion is to work on the about page and areas where there is still default text. What’s this blog going to be about? What do you hope to accomplish? Let the reader’s know a little bit of what to expect.

Good luck! I cant wait to see more pictures.

    2. Hey, welcome to the blogging world. Nice first posts. Please do some customizations to your blog so that users know exactly what you are going to do with your blog. Under your menu you have a couple of social icons, you may link them to your social channels or remove them from there if you don’t want to use them. Also the text widget there needs an edit. Also, edit the content on your about page to write about yourself and purpose of your blog. This will helps others to follow you and interact with you. Hope this helps.. Good luck

      1. Hey raj, feeling positive to see you here .You help me a lot in improving my site. Thanks for that. But wanted you to know that I am Not satisfying by my views and followers. IF YOU DON’T MIND SUGGEST ME TO INCREASE FOLLOWERS AND LIKE FOR MY SITE.AND again sorry if I Sound BOSSY to you.

        Liked by 6 people

      2. Hey.. I remember your interaction last time.. 🙂 One thing about followers, actually it will come very slowly. Dont too much look into those numbers. Try to follow more quality book reviewers, that’s important. Interact with them and see what they are doing differently. If its acceptable to you follow their style of reviews. There is no hard and fast rule about getting followings. Try to take part in the daily prompts that way you get better exposure.
No buddy you are not being bossy.. Its natural concern for most of the new bloggers.

      3. Its very easy to find out about a theme someone is using, go to their blog, and the right bottom the follow button? Dont have to click the follow, click the three dots next to them. It will open up a box, there you see first item, something like “Get Theme: XXX”, where XXX is the theme name. Check under my blog under “WordPress” there is a post on how to visualize a theme to your blog before you apply. This way you could try the theme. Let me know if you need assistance..

      4. One suggestion for your blog, if I may, You have added “Read More” tags to your posts, but I feel you should add it after a paragraph, so that viewers will be able to read few lines of your text on the home page. Right now its showing only the headings, and chances are, people might just skip reading it. Hope you get the point. Give them something to taste first. 🙂

      5. I think excerpts are dependent on the theme you choose. Not very sure as I dont use them. Your theme is very sober and nice. Your about page needs a edit too. 🙂 People often check that, so its important.

      6. I thought so too. Im so in love with these theme haha. And i followed your advised on the taste thing coz this theme here still looks clean even with additional texts. Il keep working on that about and il show u when im done hehe you give sooo much helpful feedbacks 😁

      7. Yes, It looks good now! 🙂 I see that you have been pointing towards your IG, why not add a link at your social icons in the bottom? Remove unwanted social site icons. You can also have the Instagram feeds using the widgets, if you are interested. Check my blog I have used one for my IG. 🙂 Cheers now!

      11. Checked Hassan, it looks good. You have configured everything well. Only one this is, the calendar you have there on your blog may be not required, instead try to put some other widgets like “Instagram” or your recent posts or communications etc. Good luck!

    3. You’ve got some really interesting posts there! Also, there is the “first blog post” that is sitting idle on your webpage. If you don’t want to edit it, you may simply delete it! That’ll make the site better organised!

    1. Hello and Welcome! Wow you have been busy! you’ve got so many poems up this week and all with great art work! My Favorite, possibly the most simple was Chaath Puja 2017. The line “The sun is alone and it still shines.” stuck with me as sad but inspiring all at once.

You still have default text in your about page and on a widget. Work on those. The about page is a great place to let your readers know a bit more about you and what your goals for this blog are.

      Good luck!

    2. Hey, congratulations on your new blog. Nice first posts. You have chosen a nice sober theme, which matches the kind of post you are doing. However, I want to suggest following points. First note that you have a couple of social icons on your blog, you may link them to your social channels or remove them from there if you don’t want to use them. Also the text widget there needs an edit. Also, edit the content on your about page to write about yourself and purpose of your blog. This will helps others to follow you and interact with you. 1. Hello and welcome! Thank you so much for a Friday morning laugh! I absolutely love the idea you’ve come up with. Bad pictures. Great information. The guidebook pictures made me chuckle, I thought they were brilliant! I thought the spider interesting too, when i finally saw it, lol.
Overall it seems that you are off to a great start. IYou’re humor has drawn me in, and I cant wait for more bad pics and great information! Good Luck!

    3. Hey, the nice beginning of blog there! You have done a good job configuring the blog. Only one thing I can suggest is, add read more tags to your posts, this way the whole post won’t load on your homepage. This looks tidy and clean home page. Rest all good. Keep posting and good luck!

    1. Welcome back to blogging! Great post on the #Metoo awareness campaign. I shared the status, but cannot bring myself to go into detail. Even as a woman I was shocked to see how many of my friends have a story. So often you think its you and a small handful, until just about every female you know seems to have a story.

I enjoyed your writing style: Great flow, easy read. Overall your blog is looking good. Do you plan to incorporate pictures in your posts? That is the only thing that felt missing.

      Liked by 3 people

      1. Thank you for your kind words. I’ve thought about adding pictures, and probably will do so in my upcoming posts.
When it comes to #metoo, I think that a lot of women are scared to share their stories, because they think it is embarassing or makes them weak. I however think that it is a very important subject and stories need to be shared.

    2. Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! Glad you decided to join! 😃

You have an important piece you’ve decided to share. Your voice is also well formed and easy for readers to relate to, I think.

I hope you stick with blogging; you’ll have an intriguing array of topics at hand to talk about certainly. All the best! 💫

    3. Hey Adeliina, great to see you back on blogging… Nice first posts here. Just want to suggest you add a “read more” tag to your posts so that whole post won’t load up on the home page. This also accommodates more posts on your home. Keep posting and good luck!

    1. Very good post. Detailed and extremely informative. I would suggest changing the 2 stripes of bright color on either side of your post, distracts from the content and is a li’l hard on the eyes. Or perhaps, increase the font size if that helps 🙂

    1. Hi @dossdocs,

I can’t help but notice that you’re using a lot of tags and categories on your posts. The WordPress.com Reader allows a maximum of 15 tags and categories combined — any more than that and your posts won’t appear there because it will think the post is spam. Try to choose only the tags and categories that are most relevant, because it would be a shame for others not to get to see your work.

  3. New blogger here! It’s been almost a full month of blogging. I finally found my creative outlet while still being able to take care of my young kids. I am really considering taking it to the next level. Possibly self hosted site. So far, I’ve been working on my words and thoughts. I think it’s time I focus on the content and visual appeal too. Any advice or tips! Thanks for reading! https://ouroddspring.wordpress.com

  4. I think I fall in the category of a new blogger. Disclaimer: I did set up my blog some 6 years ago and I published 2 tiny posts back then. But I haven’t used it at all afterwards. I remembered about it last week, as I was looking at setting up a new blog, deleted everything that was there and started from scratch. So for all intents and purposes I am a blog virgin… albeit one who tried some light blog petting before, but hey, which one of us remained totally pure? 😉 Here’s my first proper post: https://booleanlogically.wordpress.com/2017/10/24/rediscoveries/

    1. Hi!
I read your post which tells us about generation gap and how it can be mended. I really liked that post!
I, too, believe that rifts because of generation gap can be attributed to the parents’ behaviour as well as the child’s behaviour. Both the parties need to make arrangements to mend this gap by learning the art of ‘sacrificing for loved ones’- be it a sacrifice of time, energy or anything else. The child needs to understand that his/her parents and other family members and his/her only true friends and well-wishers. The parents also need to understand that it is important to let the child explore the world with his/her own way of understanding.
The children of newer times always consider themselves to be better than their precedent generation. However, they need to value the level of understanding and maturity and amount of experience that the older members of the family have.
Thanks for the great post! You’ve got a new follower!

I can’t help but notice you use all caps quite a bit in your responses. Note that using all caps while writing on the internet is considered to be yelling and some may think it rude.
