First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hello World is my first blog attempt. High school Education is my passion .

    A questions also while I am here. I cant get my first blog to display on my webpage directly. How do I link the blogs to the toolbar ? I would like to keep a stagnant home page? Or shall I just keep latest blogs as my home page. Any recommendations appreciated

    1. I am not sure how that is possible. Usually the theme will allow certain things to happen. Maybe someone more experienced can help you – i am a newbie too. But usually with the free themes you need to have all your posts on the same first page. As in i havent found a way to make seperate pages other than the ones that come with the theme. But like i said maybe someone more experienced can help you. Good blog though 🙂 goodluk.

  3. Hi! I’m a new blogger and I write about the development of a visual novel I’m creating. (Basically a story where you get to choose options and effect the story through your interactions.) The novel I’m doing is a murder mystery and it’d be awesome if anyone wants to check it out. I blog every Wednesday! 🙂

  5. Hello, I just started my first blog called On the Thrift. I created it for my mom who is super talented and loves house projects. She is very crafty and can turn an old piece of furniture into a masterpiece. So as a tribute to her I created a blog to showcase some of her work. I am new to wordpress and welcome all feedback. I have never blogged or worked on a website before so any recommendations is welcomed. I will surprise my mom in a few weeks time with this, so hoping to take any feedback and make it better.

    Enjoy and thank you for taking the time to view my website.

    1. I love this blog! Only recommendation I have is to add as many more visuals and images as you can! It would help for sure! I’m a follower! 🙂 Tons of good luck to you and your mom for your DIY projects, especially loved the rustic E.

      1. Great feedback. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog and comment. I will definitely take that advice and work on adding more visuals. The rustic E is one of my favourites too 😁

      1. Hi Keith! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your feedback and time reading it. I was honestly starting to doubt the content and feel like maybe the post wasn’t helpful since like I mentioned earlier, everyone would view but I couldn’t even get a like. Thanks again!!! Please share it to anyone you feel could use these wisdom tidbits!

    1. Hi, this is a second attempt, I posted a reply, or I thought I did but I can’t see it. Anyway, I like your blog, we have a lot in common! I’m not writing expert or anything so I don’t really have any special feedback, just keep up the good work! This is my blog if you are interested, in very fresh at this so I’ve only done one post https://projectminimum.com/

    1. I have been bullied as a kid and I know how it feels :(. I was the only Indian person (staff and students including) in my school up until 8th grade. Kids would call me brutal names and throw food at me on the bus! I think you are tackling some very influential and important topics. Keep up the great work!

      1. I want to start off by saying I am so sorry. But I’m really glad you made it through that. And thank you very much!😊😁

      2. I completely understand. I like to think all of the people that have bullied me have made me a stronger person and who I am today. I wanted to write about this, not only to inspire others, but also to share my and other people’s experiences with bullying to hopefully give at least one person something to relate to and to make sure they aren’t alone. Thank you. 😊

      3. Yes, I completely agree. I don’t know why people bully others honestly. Like, If I even step on a cricket, I feel bad LOL. All we can do is wish other people kindness and be kind people ourselves.

        This Mother Teresa quote always inspires me:

        People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
        Forgive them anyway.

        If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
        Be kind anyway.

        If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
        Succeed anyway.

        If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
        Be honest and frank anyway.

        What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
        Build anyway.

        If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
        Be happy anyway.

        The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
        Do good anyway.

        Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
        Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

        You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
        It was never between you and them anyway.

      4. Yes. I don’t get it either. It just always dumbfounds me when I hear or see people bullying others. (And I totally get the cricket thing. Lol). And, can i just say, I absolutely love that quote. 😊😁😊😁
