Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. As far as posting more, I’d say continue to post a variety of content to figure out what readers respond to most. Also, for taking and posting pictures, I’d make sure they’re something you want to post, not something you think is going to get a lot of attention. If you like nature, then explore, but don’t wake up at the crack of dawn for the perfect sunrise if that’s not what you’re into. Be authentic and post what you’d want to see.

  2. Hello, I’m trying to make my blog pretty eclectic, it’s pretty makeup heavy right now, but I’m working on several different things to hopefully go up in the next few weeks. The below links are for my most recent post, a recipe, and a travel list. I would love feed back about the length of my thoughts, for some posts I feel like I’m going on for a bit too long and other times I think my blurbs are too short.

  3. Hi, guys!

Is there some sort of widget I can use to allow people who don’t have a wordpress account follow my blog using other social media accounts?

    Thank you, for your help!

    1. I’m not sure as far as widgets go, but I know people can follow your blog using their email. Otherwise, I believe if you link your social media with your blog, your posts will be on both platforms. Again, I’m not entirely sure of the ways you can change the settings with the social media linking, but I know users can enter their email to follow you if they’re not WordPress users.

      1. Thank you! I know about the email. I just wasn’t sure if there was a widget or not when it came to others following a blog with their social media even if the blogger doesn’t link his/her own social media on his/her own blog.

    1. The link you posted doesn’t work properly to bring people to your blog. Also, if you’d like to improve your English, perhaps you can use your blog to document your progress with different methods of learning (online courses, reading, classes, etc.) and encourage others as well.
      Good luck!

  4. Hello divers!
I added another dialogue to the ever-growing amount of resources for writers, so feel free to check it out as well as any other resource available.

I do have one specific question: Would anyone be interested in my hosting a writing contest? If so, I can draw up some rules and details!
Have fun, and do be afraid to send me something you create from one of the resources.

    1. That’s a nice story, welcome. I hope that you’ll have lots of ideas to share . But don’t forget to enhance your blog ’cause now you don’t even have an ‘about’ page.

    1. I enjoyed your Elite and Nightmares posts. They were thought-provoking. For me, the black background makes my eyes hurt when I read. When I did go to your posts, the blue background was easier to read. On your Abput page it would be nice to see a few words to either tell us the purpose of your blog site or a little something about yourself. https://gracelead.co
