Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Your site overall has a clean and easy to navigate layout. Though the header image and the text over it which shows your blog name and tagline do clash making it difficult to read or see the image behind it.

You have a captivating writing style, but I’d suggest cutting the paragraphs into shorter ones which would make it easier to follow. Again with the posts, I’d suggest adding the excerpt rather than the full blog post because it makes it harder to scroll down and find your other posts.

At the bottom of the page, I noticed you have two sets of the same widgets which is a little strange. I’d suggest cutting the ones that repeat out and adding a follow button and perhaps some social media links too.

      I hope this was useful!!

  2. Hi Guys! I write things that allow me to get out my thoughts as I struggle through this cruel world in dealing with my mental health and just trying to live my life as a teenager to my fullest. It is very evident in especially my poetry that I have some mental health problems and through me sharing this I hope for many of you to realize you’re not alone and never will be! Lots of Love. xx -Kaylee

    1. I read your post on struggling to breathe, and it’s one of the things I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, why is that despite everything, I still find it hard to breathe even when I’ve been breathing without effort all this time?
Similar to you and also probably different, a lot of what you mentioned in the post hit home for me and made me realise a few things, it helped me to understand I need to breathe, I need to keep breathing, to keep fighting for my life.

      1. Hi, thank you very much and I hope you find some ideas that will help.

I had a look at your blog. The overall appearance is good and I see you already have drop down menus, which look very nice against the white background! I’m sure people will find your self-help articles to be of great value.

  3. Greetings fellow bloggerinos!
It took me a few days to process events in Charlottesville; I’m still sorting out my thoughts on the monuments at the heart of this flare-up. After watching and reading a week’s worth of reactions I composed this: https://purplechiblog.wordpress.com/2017/08/22/torch-lit-march-ignited-stress-test-of-american-society/
It turned out to be an unintended companion piece to the one before it. As always, I’m curious to know what my fellow bloggers think and will happily return the favor. Cheers!

    1. Hello. I really liked your last post. If I may give a little tip, the position of the text after your pictures made the flow of reading a little uneven. Have a play with the position of the pictures you add, or space the next line away from the picture, it might help the flow for the reader. Great content though, I’ve started following.

      1. You’re welcome. I find the preview screen really helpful. It doesn’t show exactly how the post will look on your site but it shows how everything is placed. I’ve found random words or too many spaces in my blog posts a few times with the preview button and been able to change them before publishing. I hope this helps. Keep blogging! 😁

  7. Hi all, I need some advice.

I have for the first time created a collage of care products that my family uses. I used Adobe Photoshop Mix. However, I couldn’t number my items using the same app, so I used snapseed. But it turned out really ugly. What is the best phone app to use to layer, blend and number a collage of items?

    This is my link. http://www.mychirpylife.com/2017/08/22/favourites-baby-skincare/

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Looking forward to reading the rest of yours also.
