Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hello Community Pool!
    James from James Proclaims here.
Reading can be such fun. With that in mind I’ve written something for you to read. You’ll find it on my blog. It’s full of words, sentences and paragraphs. You might even find some punctuation if you look closely enough. Best not to look too hard at the grammar though…

  2. Greetings fellow bloggers. Here’s a link to a post published a few days ago on my blog, To Cut a Short Story Short. It’s something a bit different from me this time, my ‘take’ on the Madeleine McCann mystery, the case of the ‘world’s most famous missing child’. Just 500 words. It’s entitled ‘The Downfall of British Journalism’. What d’you think?

      1. Thanks so much. I tried to keep it short so it wouldn’t be boring, but (I hope) still managed to present some of the main points about Madeleine’s disappearance and the way it’s been handled in the newspapers and on TV here in England over the last 10 years.

If you (or anyone) would like in-depth information about the TRUTH of the case, please check out the two links below my article. I’ve just re-watched all the Buried by Mainstream Media films by Richard D. Hall myself and so much of the information presented about the case there is almost unbelievable!

    1. Thought provoking. Troubling. I can’t say I have ever delved any deeper into this story than the surface, and you raise some interesting questions.

Not sure what to think, but you write well.

      1. Thank you for checking my article out and pleased you enjoyed the writing style 🙂 If you’d be interested, here’s a link to an introduction to the films given in the second link of my article. Richard D. Hall talks about why he made them and the importance of the Madeleine McCann case in what’s wrong with our (British) media. Well worth watching!

  3. Happy Monday fellow bloggers!

I hope you are all well and had a good weekend.

My name is Mark and I am on an adventure! I love writing, which I have only recently discovered may I add, and I am looking for your support. Since the release of my debut psychological thriller last year, my love for writing has only intensified and I am now working on the first book in a new series. The support of my followers through various channels is what has helped me achieve what I have done so far.

If you do have the time, please stop by and say hello and follow if you can. It would be great to hear from you.

Take care and thank you in advance,

    Mark

      1. Yes. At least that is what I think. I only receive followers when I make new insta posts. Or invite friends to like my page.

    2. I’m slowly beginning to integrate this extremely helpful advice into my blogging routine. I still spend far too much time engaging with other bloggers posts, but I hope that in time I will develop lasting relationships that I can build on.

Thank you again for these incredibly helpful tips Suzie!

  4. Hello all!

Today I did an update on how my spring goals are going. They’re…eh. Can’t have a gold star month every month, right?

On Thursday, I’m talking about learning to write in a foreign language. There’s a lot more to it than knowing grammar and vocabulary.

Hope everyone has a great week! It’s my spring break, so I’m gonna try to relax (as I also do two projects). Woohoo!

    2. I think the self-survey is a good option for a positivity challenge. I like how you gave a rew tips after each section. I took your reader survey. For those who have regular readers, a survey like this could be helpful in knowing where we could make some improvements. https://gracelead.co

      1. You are wonderful! Thank you! The start of each day feels like a self-survey for me and I constantly want to improve because of the love I have for my family, friends, and students.

    1. Hey just checked out your blog and gave it a like. Question though, how do you choose your music for each post, is it just what you’re listening to at the moment or is it from new artists etc?

      1. Hey, thanks for stopping by. I’m subscribed to a lot of Youtube channels that post music everyday, and I have quite a complicated system of adding them all to a playlist and then picking out the ones that I like and putting them in a separate playlist. It’s all worth it though because I get to hear really good music almost everyday. 🙂

  7. Happy Monday Fellow Bloggers.

In the past few weeks, I have been suffering from an on-going medical issue- After all these questions from people who aren’t aware what it is- I decided I am tired of it being a ‘Taboo’ topic when it is a common medical problem that no one ever wants to discuss. I blogged a condense version of my story here and I hope by doing that people will understand that we don’t need to be embarrassed- these things happen.

  8. Hi fellow-bloggers!
I just started posting last week, mainly short poems, and I would love to know what you think. I love constructive criticism, bring it on! I will get into longer, less “unrequited love-esque” writing soon, so bear with me!

Thanks, I look forward to reading your posts as well!

      1. I’ve read that! I wouldn’t really count that as a memoir, though, as it wasn’t really about his life, as you said. If he did write a memoir, I’d probably read it though. I think he’s pretty funny.

    1. That was an excellent post. Sad that your welcoming and decent words got twisted around like that by someone who was probably trolling deliberately. It happened to me recently on a tweet I wrote. It really makes me angry, but I’d rather delete those nasty comments than engage them, because it usually is not worthwhile.

    2. Love this post. You articulate really well how some of us feel a bit of a Canadian national identity crisis when events like this remind us that we aren’t always better than, safer than, or more accepting than our neighbouring country. Following you now.

  10. Hello fellow swimmers in the pool!

I post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and since I’ve only been blogging since the beginning of January, I’m struggling to find any particular theme… If anybody has any suggestions let me know! My last post is a lot longer than I’d usually write so if you’re not into that, know it’s not the norm…

  12. Hi all, I’ve got two posts to share with you. First is my usual Monochrome Mondays feature. Second is a slight departure from my usual pairing of music to my photography. This time, I discuss some of my favorite music comedy sketches. Have a look for some great laughs courtesy of people like Lenny Henry, Ricky Gervais, Hugh Laurie, and Monty Python. Let me know what you think!
