Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and conversations about blogging.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. I love the style of your blog, really simplistic and easy to get stuck into. Also really like the cover image – my only suggestion, there isn’t an option to ‘like’ each post, only to leave a comment? Maybe I am just being blonde though…

  1. Hello Guys! Happy New Year! 😀

2016 was a very eventful year for all of us, we met new people, reached new places, and many of us found a new interest/hobby. This past year became the year when I became interested in watching films especially the great films of the past. So as a round up for 2016, I created a list of “The Greatest American Films for Every Letter of the Alphabet”.

This is the link to my post –> https://iamearljames.wordpress.com/2016/12/27/greatest-american-film-for-every-letter-of-the-alphabet/

Please read my post and feel free to comment and suggest a beautiful movie or share your own list 😀

Thanks! Happy New Year again and Happy Blogging! 😀

    1. Hey, I love this post, it’s great to refer back to on a lazy sunday afternoon. I like that you didn’t have to read through reams of writing to get to the good stuff either.
      Good stuff!

  2. Hey there!
I wrote a post the other day about the new year and how I’m going to make it an intentional year for me. Take a look and see how you can make this year intentional in your own life and let me know how you are going to do it!
I’d love for you to check it out and if you have any suggestions for how I can use my blog to be as effective as possible, let me know!

    Thanks for reading!
I’d love to check out what you have on your blog as well!

    1. Love the bright, psychedelic, kaleidoscope colors in your header.:) I hope you don’t mind a small suggestion, but it’s difficult to read your site title and tag line on such a bold and bright header image. You might want to consider adding the site title and tag line text directly to the header in an image editing program using a contrasting color to make it stand out. Don’t delete the site title and text under Site Identity in the Customizer because search engines want to see them. You can choose not to display the text if you’ve added it directly to the image. All the best!

  3. Good morning and happy Wednesday to everyone. Keep plugging along through the week, and before you know it, it’ll be Friday! I’d love to hear some feedback on my latest poem (a preview to the posted story) Dance with the Devil as well as the work of fiction.

    1. Hi Ana, Thanks for sharing your post! It has an interesting style to it that I liked. The only thing I noticed is that there are quite a few typos/errors but I’m not sure if that is part of your style or actually errors. Either way I felt like the message got across.

If you have time you can feel free to check out one of my recent posts.

      2. Love your site! We’ve been living in Alaska for the last few years and LOVE it! What’s also funny is my husband proposed to me in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. He and his family grew up camping there every year! Excited to follow along on your adventures!

    2. I agree with Operation Alaska that your post has several typos/errors. For example: (1) “In the middle of year” should be “In the middle of the year” (2) For “witness foreign trip” I think you mean “experience a trip to a foreign land” (3) “Its a balance” should be “It’s a balance” I hope these examples help. https:/gracelead.co

  5. Hello everyone, Happy New Year!

I recently put up a new post that is a bit different from my usual offerings. I waned to do something that would appeal more to a general audience (as opposed to my more niche regular offerings). I would be excited to hear your thoughts on if. Thanks everyone!

Any other thoughts on the blog as a whole are also appreciated!

    Best,

    1. Accidentally posted my comment for you on someone else’s post. Here it is again: Love your site! We’ve been living in Alaska for the last few years and LOVE it! What’s also funny is my husband proposed to me in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. He and his family grew up camping there every year! Excited to follow along on your adventures!

      1. What a small world! The Adirondacks are a special place. Thanks for taking a look and following along. Hopefully soon I will be able to make it to Alaska myself! What brought you out there if you dont mind my asking?

  7. I am new to blogging. I have a dual New Year’s resolution- to go on a date at leat every other week and to blog about it. Due to the sensitivity of the content on my blog, it is anonymous- I would therefore appreciate any feedback any of you lovely people might have surrounding content, as well as ways in which I could potentially increase my audience?
