Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and conversations about blogging.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Happy New Year! Cheers to writing more and publishing consistently. This may be the 5th failed blog I’ve started in the past few years. I seek to capture vivid memories through my writing. Feedback is warmly welcome.

    1. Hey Madilyn, Just saw your blog. You have written a lovely introduction and I am sure all bloggers can relate. Your theme is looking nice and your menus are also well setup. My only suggestion is that once you have a couple of posts, consider seperating about me section, right now your introduction is visible under both “home” and “about me”… unless that is intentional!
Your writing holds promise, I look forward to more from you.

I blog about beauty, lifestyle and design, do swing by….. I will appreciate your feedback. 🙂

  2. Happy new year! I hope to have some feedback. What I’ve posted isn’t what I really want to get out there. Lately I have been too distracted to really write. Hope for positive feedback, and to read some good work!

    1. Hey, just saw your blog… you write well.. you need to keep going. I think if you put in some effort on the blogs look and feel and add your name to it , it will attract more people and once they are there and giving you constant feedback one automatically feels the responsibility!

I face this a lot – I have a job and family and household chores and am finding it very difficult to keep up and get more traffic but once in a while someone writes telling me how my post has been helpful..i gives me some fuel to go on. Do swing by, I will appreciate some feedback.

  3. Hi everyone, happy new year! Love the of this community pool… I am still a newbie blogger and will definitely be back to get feedback on future posts. I know I need it! Also excited to read other blogs and learn from others. Thanks!

    1. Hey Levi, just saw your blog. Your work is wonderful, I have followed you and am looking forward to more posts.

I noticed your theme is not fully set up – there is a lot of default text visible in the bottom bar and your social media links are also not functioning. Most importantly you need to make your posts visble on your homepage… right now the only way to see your post is to go into the archives. Your blog will attracta a lot of people if you consider these small changes.

I write about beauty lifestyle and design and I often struggle with taking pictures. Hoping to learn from you. Do swing by, I will appreciate any feedback that you might have

    1. Hi Deepti, I am coming by from your blog. You write well and have an expressive style. I think what can improve your blog and attract more audience is a better navigation through your content. Consider having a menu bar on top and catagorise your post so that readers can easily access content of their interest. Also consider adding tags, it gives your post more visbility.

I write about Beauty, Lifestyle and Design… do swing by my blog. I will appreciate your feedback.

    1. Beautiful. The style is poetic and a bit mysterious. I feel the creeping feeling that one gets before being overcome with sadness and, at worst, depression. The visuals add to the writing too. 🙂

  5. Happy 2017, bloggers! 🙂 ❤ I'd love if you check out my blog; I'm still finding my direction and improving on my writing, but I currently blog about life and personal struggles, travels, and other miscellaneous things. I decided to start the year off in a new direction and post my very own hot fudge recipe! ❤ https://mjcobra.com/2017/01/02/hot-fudge-vegan/

    1. I like it Carl – good start.

Particularly like the minimal, uncluttered whiteness of your chosen template. I’m always far more likely to spend time on a site when I don’t feel like I’m being bombarded.

      Keep it up.

  7. I’m here, making history ;). I’m actually not funny. I’m just really mean and people think I am joking. 😛

My blog’s all about me, my thoughts that I mostly weave it through satire. Either Jump into the following link to have a glimpse or just dump it. Yeah yeah, I know my perspective is refreshing :D..

    1. Hey there Deadpool!
I absolutely LOVE the layout of your blog and your About page is promising (and slightly curious too.) I’m yet to read some of your posts and I’ll review them on your blog itself.
Couldn’t help but follow it. 🙂

      1. I highly appreciate your opinion. Lemme add to this – I love the veryconcept of your blog. There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others and your blog looks to me to be a treasure trove of information that could be implemented in day to day life. 🙂

    1. A lot of improvements are needed on your blog but I absolutely love the overall feel it emanates. I read a couple of your posts and they look promising to more deep and profound stuff coming from you.

Start by making an About Page with a like and comment section where people can leave their reviews. You can email me if you need help with the construction. Happy New Year and Happy Blogging. 🙂

    1. Just commented! Good content, good use of images, good use of tags. My suggestion: consider categorizing your posts. Tags help new readers find your post, and categories organize your posts within your blog, which makes it easy for readers to find posts on the same topic.

    2. Yes I agree with Natalie. The first thing I noticed is that your post is uncategorised. It is better to categorise your post as some readers look for specific posts and categories make it easier to find topic-relevant posts.

    1. Nice content — cute doodles 🙂 Are you using tags and categories? I didn’t see any when I looked at your posts, and if you’re not using them, consider doing so! Categories organize posts within your blog, and tags help new readers find your blog. You can have up to 15 total. It’s easier for people to find your posts when you use relevant tags 🙂
