Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

    1. Your post has a high emotional impact. It would be easier to read if it was not all in upper case. Here’s a portion of the post redone as an example. >
As I look back, I remember things I don’t want to remember. I remember mom getting tortured day after day. I remember her getting beaten up, crying, not because of scars, but because of pain. I remember her spending hours talking to God, crying silently so that people wouldn’t hear her. Her arm was still bleeding, still she didn’t speak a word to me or dad. She smiled the best she could to hide her pain. When she asked me, “Have you had your dinner yet?” I answered, “Yes.” As she went to the kitchen, I remember standing there looking at her as tears rolled from my eyes.

      1. Me either! Everything would look scary or somewhat hard to interpret. Yet, it is fun to see every once and a while. Thanks for reading! It means a lot!

    1. The only blogging challenges I do are the ones I create for myself. This is typically getting a certain number of posts written and scheduled by a certain date or finding graphics for a certain number of my draft posts by a certain date. Given the purpose of my blog, the topics that people use in challenges are not generally relevant. https://gracelead.co

      1. I think it’s because I put https in the web address. Maybe the link will work if I just put it like this: akornphotography.wordpress.com

    1. Your post is really well written, good job! Your post is legitimately helpful and really coherent. This is a tougher subject and you handled it well.

    2. I love your post! It was very insightful and helpful. It was also well-written, especially for a topic that is tough and that so many people struggle with, including myself. I also saw a lot of my own style in your writing, so that made it all the more fun to read. Good job! 🙂

    1. Hi, I really liked your post about self-confidence. It had some great points and was very useful. I noticed that in the left hand side you have a text widget that still has some ‘filler’ text in it. You can change this in the customizer to something more personal, like ‘About Me’ for example. I hope that helps!

  5. Community Pool is just awesome…I just stopped by to connect with some bloggers I am unfamiliar with (you’ll find my comments directly on your post), and to invite anyone interested to read any of my posts you choose…if I might suggest, try “I’m Too Sexy For My Shirk” or “You’ve Got To Fight For Your Right To Part-ee”. They are the most recent (in terms of full-length posts)–and, are illustrative of my flare for wordplay, humour, whimsy and a philosophical bent in service of growth and spreading the good. Please let me know what you think…i will be sure to visit and repay the kindness 🙂

  7. Hi Guys,
Just looking for some feedback on my parenting site – going through the ups and downs with having a child. I’ve recently changed the layout and have written a new article (i’ve been inactive for a while) so would appreciate some feedback to see what people actually think of my work. Would be great to connect with some of you too 🙂

  8. Hi all, I’d love to know where people get photos. I have taken some photos for my new blog, but I have lots to post and no photos for them. I’ve been using freepix and including attributes, but this doesn’t seem to be the ‘done’ thing. Is there somewhere else I can get some good photos? Thanks in advance
