Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

I would love if you could take a look and give me feedback on design and such!

    1. Hey Michelle, I really liked your blog layout it’s super easy to navigate and the colors are perfect, I was just wondering why you chose to place your about page as front page? But overall I liked it allot.

      1. Hi mamawhippet, when you’re looking at someone’s blog, there is a follow button. I use my phone only, the button is on the bottom of my screen. Not sure on a computer tho, sorry, I’m new too 🙂

      1. Hi. I took a peek at your blog, and was immediately smiling at the colour of the top header. such a pleasant colour, and that picture of the strawberries is just so attractive. I was however miss led by the same strawberry picture, as it immediately made me think of a cooking site (I know you have a few explanatory words in the header, but I missed reading them….). I was so surprised when I actually figured out that it is far from a recipe blog…(lol)

      2. Yeah. I realised that after I’d done the header :D. I was trying out the canva app and used the first image I saw. I liked the end product so I just used it. I’ll definitely change it asap. I wouldn’t want to mislead now would I. Thanks for checking it out. Any suggestions with regards to the layout and navigation?

    2. Your page is fantastic! I love your About Me section – the structure is fab and it tells me a lot about you without waffling. I’m excited to see what you have planned next project wise! I would love it if you could take a look at my page and let me know what you think 🙂

    3. I like the layout, seems like your up to a lot haha, check out my profile to see some of the stuff that I’ve written about since being on here!

One thing, I’m not sure what it is but going through the WP app keeps bringing up this bizarre screen asking me to sign up to something lol. I think it might be the app being confused but it really got in the way of viewing your blog lol.

      Either way, keep it up!

    4. Hi! Welcome to blogging, I hope you have a lovely time with it as I am! I do have one suggestion and that is to link your pictures, this can be done with html and is pretty easy if you follow some tutorials 🙂 I think this would better allow users to find your sites considering I am guilty of trying to click on the pictures. I was wondering what facebook group you put your posts in? Thank you very much!

    6. Hello; I think that your blog is perfect, although I would like to give you some advice-Start out with a great idea that’s been bothering your mind, and then translate that idea first to a draft, and then follow the draft that you have written while you are writing your post for your blog! PS-If on any occasion you start to run out of ideas, then just take a nice, little break. I hope that this helps for you; May I wish you much success on your blog, and please feel free to check out mine at http://www.j2w7.WordPress.com!(And also, please excuse my dust as I am recovering from a very bad cold!) With much 💗-JW 👍

    7. So… I want to be you…

Love the layout. Just an aside- on my phone, it was hard to scroll through the film and writing menus on the bottom. It won’t scroll down unless you’re using the little piece of white sidebar.

I don’t know if any other mobile users noticed that, but I just thought you should know!

    8. Hi, Michelle. You’re one busy writer – I’m jealous! I’m just wondering if it might make sense to put your literary options front and center and keep the self-description below that? I like the idea of a hub for all of your work. I’ll have to start following you to see what you’re up to!

    9. Hi Michelle. Your blog looks very nice and professional, clean lined and inviting. I love the concept of categorizing all your projects, and attracting our interest. I ended up clicking away to find out more. I also enjoyed reading about you. I found it quite interesting that first I stumbled upon this good looking blog, without knowing right away what it was about (no header), but then I was drawn to your introduction, which was well written and it further attracted my curiosity to other pages on your blog and beyond. Good luck with your projects!

    1. Welcome to the blogging world. Here are few basic tips which will not only improve your blog’s look but they will also bring more views:

      1. Add categories and tags in your posts. Categories are like subject of a certain post you have written about while tags are the keywords in your posts that bring the views to the post. This is the simplest way to understand it.

      2. Help me, help you! This is the one basic motto of blogging world. To get more views on your blog, you have to check blogs of others, follow them up, like their posts, comment on them and share them too. This benefits a lot and I can tell you this without a doubt.

      3. Add social media buttons, along with post like button. You can find out about how to add those on WordPress support page here (https://wordpress.com/support/)

      4. Create an About Me page to let your readers know who you are, what inspires you, what are your hobbies and answer all questions you can think about your own self but in a brief manner.

      5. While writing a post, do check the formatting tools and play with them. Also link up your social accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram to your blog. They bring tons of viewers.

Well, these are some basic tips I can give you. Try them out and have fun!

    4. Well, first and foremost of all, congratulations, you are now officially a blogger! Now, I have been a blogger myself for 3-1/2 years, and with every trick of the trade that I have learned from WordPress, I have fully grown of the knowledge of how to run a blog such as the one I have now, Dream In Music, though it isn’t always easy, but with a little practice of writing each and every day, plus a slew of wonderful ideas that have invaded my head for those 3-1/2 years, my very own blog has grown into every blogger’s favorite! Now, here’s some advice-If you have a great idea inside your head, get it out-Next, write a draft for your upcoming post on a piece of paper, or on Microsoft Word, and then, if you have a tablet, follow the draft that you have written when you begin to write your blog post. Now, as far as adding an image is concerned, download one from either Google Images or Bing Images, and afterwards give that downloaded image a final touch with a photo editing app(my best suggestion to all future bloggers would be to try Pixlir for those image touch-ups), and finally, add that shining image either before you write or after you write down your post! I hope that my advice would work for you, and may I wish you the very best of luck in your new blog; When you get a chance, please check out mine, which is again Dream In Music, at http://www.j2w7.WordPress.com! Congrats & good luck! With 💗-JW 👍

Hello, I just visited your blog and to tell you the truth I liked it, very interesting topic, though I would like to point out a few things that you change for a better appearance like a menu, presently there isn’t one and if you could make your sharing buttons smaller, try adding an image concerning the topic that you are writing about. Happy blogging and good luck.

They are really just small highlighted chapters of incremented times. Leading to where we are now. I do realize they are not very exciting in the end, kind of just notes. I don’t really know how to improve them. Any ideas?

  3. Happy Monday everyone! I finally posted something on a Monday again, so figured I’d jump back in here after a few weeks off… Today I wrote about how I’m doing eight months later after tragically and unexpectedly losing my first born child at 33 weeks pregnant… Not a light topic, but perhaps an interesting read nonetheless – it was at least important to me to communicate to my readers (and myself) where I am at the moment. As always, any feedback is welcome:

    1. Well, to create a really good blog post, you just got to have a great idea, and once that great idea starts bugging you in your mind, here’s what you have to do: First do some research on a topic in which you are going to write your post about; Then, write a draft of what you are going to write, sort of like doing doing thumbnail sketches when you are about to do your art work. Then, as you are about to write your post, write it off the separate draft that you have written earlier. That way, you’ll have the most perfectly good post for your blog! 1. Well, my friend, have I got some advice for you! If you really want to give your blog extra sparkle, then you’ve just got to customize it-Jazz it up with whatever fonts and colors you want your blog to have; And also, if you really want to write a very good post, you have to have a very good idea, and then write your idea down in a separate draft after you have done some research. But if you start to run out of any ideas that you have, then just take a nice, long break to recharge your batteries, and see if that helps! I wish you much success on your blog, and I very much hope that you check out mine at http://www.j2w7.WordPress.com! Good luck! With 💗-JW

    1. You betcha I have a few ideas; As with all things in life, such as planning to begin production on a movie, the very first thing that one has to start with would be a great idea, one that its inside your head so very much. Then, when you cannot take anymore of having the idea in your head, then, before you jot it down on either a piece of paper or on Microsoft Word, first do some research for whatever topic that you plan to write about(The best research/reference site which I highly suggest would be Wikipedia); And then, after reading over it very carefully as well as researching it, then you write your draft down first, then, when you write down your post for your blog, just follow the draft that you have just written earlier! I hope that this would help, and I may I wish you the very best of luck in your new blog-PS-Please be sure to check out mine at http://www.j2w7.WordPress.com! With 💗-JW

  5. You know how inspirations can multiply from an original project?

I’ve recently started a new experimental project & kicked off with a post which is environmentally related; but, the blog itself is to be more about us residents who could accomplish so much and yet we somehow are merely watchers of a political system that essentially abuses us [ourselves] as highlighted in retrospect via our first post: https://sanguineframe.wordpress.com/2016/03/11/priorities-for-environmental-progress-sidelined/

Could this catch a momentum? Please read the “About” page as well, and then let me know what you’d like to see in future posts, as one w/ a stake in the now, the future and processes that should enhance our experience.

      1. Wow. Your blog is one of those blogs where your personality just shines right through. The story you tell in your about is touching, and you really portray your love of travel from a personal perspective- keep that up it’s great. Another very strong point are the more personal pictures you take. Your smile is so genuine, so warm, and it adds a layer of intimacy to your blog. I feel like you make friends with people easily, and people can relate to such a warm, sunny personality easily as well. I think readers will respond to that, so you should continue with the pictures of you interacting with people you meet on your travels. My only suggestion, as these pictures are already filled with personality, is to resize them so they are the same size! It makes reading through the blog easier, the page flows more constructively, and it looks much more uniformed that way! Best of luck to you!
