November in Blogging U.: Last call!

November’s classes start Monday — if you’re been thinking about trying Blogging U., now’s the time!

Registration for November’s courses is now closed! See what’s coming up in December.

Ready to commit to better blogging? We’ve got three ways to do it with Blogging U. next month:

  • Blogging 101: Zero to Hero (Monday, November 2nd to Friday, November 20th): One new task each day to help you publish, customize your blog, and engage with the blogging community. Learn more.
  • Writing 101: Finding Everyday Inspiration (November 2nd to Friday, November 27th): Cultivate a daily writing habit while finding fresh inspiration in unexpected places. Learn more.
  • Blogging 201: Intermediate Customization (Monday, November 2nd to Friday, November 13th): An in-depth look at free WordPress.com customizing features. Learn more.

Creating my blog and signing up for the Blogging 101, 201, and Writing 101 courses has given me the confidence to branch out and away from what I had always thought I would write about. I’ve found my voice and I wake up every day itching to write.

How do Blogging U. courses work?

Blogging U. courses exist for one reason: to help you meet your own blogging and writing goals.

  • Courses are free, flexible, and open to all.
  • You’ll get a task, writing prompt, or tutorial to work on to each weekday at midnight GMT, along with our best advice and favorite resources. Do them on your own time, and interpret them however makes sense for your specific blog and personal goals — we’re not grading you, we’re not checking to make sure you complete every task, and there’s no “wrong” way to use the resources we give you. Weekends are free!
  • Each course has a private community site, the Commons, for chatting, connecting, and seeking feedback and support. Daily Post staff and Happiness Engineers will be on hand to answer your questions and offer guidance and resources.

  1. I am really looking forward to blogging 101. I am super new and posted 2 blogs, but nothing serious. I am a sponge and ready to soak up all this knowledge. I need followers! lol

    1. It look like you entered your email address with a typo — your registration form shows it as “willo_08@yahoo.com.” I’m adding the corrected version to the mailing list right now, and you’ll get an invitation to the private course site momentarily.

    1. What email address would you have used to register? I’m not seeing an entry for the email associated with your WordPress.com account.

I can begin sending the emails and invite you to the group site with the email associated with your account, if you’d like!

  3. Hi, I have an issue regarding the courses showing in “My Sites”. Mine still says Writing 101 in September but I’ve received an e-mail already that says I can find this month’s Writing 101 in My Sites. Can you clear this for me please? Thank you!

    1. If you took Writing 101 in September, then you still have access to that site. If you go to My Sites > Switch sites, you should be able to select the November site there (or you can just use the links in the emails).

  4. Is there any possible way that this “Johnny come lately” to the university could be enrolled in the Blogging 101 course? I would be extremely grateful. I appreciate your consideration. — mak

    1. I can add you to the course, but you’ll get the emails a day behind the other participants (although you can always find the assignments on the private course site). If that’s okay with you, I’m happy to get you set up.

      1. That would be great. I thought that someone had all ready added me. I was looking thru my emails to find the course site. I really appreciate it and just didn’t want to have you duplicating what someone else had done. I also asked very nicely via Twitter but wasn’t sure who administered the account.

    1. To use the Commons, you need a WordPress.com account and username — I can’t create one for you, but there are instructions on how to do so in the first email you received, and in the new Commons invitations I just sent you.

    1. Is there any chance you registered with a different email address than you use here? I don’t see you on the lists. I’m happy to get things started for you, if you could just confirm the email you’d like to use.

  8. Hello. I signed up but didn’t get any emails. Being very new, I assumed I … I don’t know what. Now I see the course is running. (Don’t ask me how, but I ended up on the Commons.) Is it too late for me to jump in? It looks very overwhelming. Apart from doing the exercises, do we comment on each others’ work? Thanks, Karen

    1. As you’re using gmail, can you check the Social and Promotions tabs, as well as the spam folder, just to make sure nothing’s ended up there? If you’re on the Commons, then your registration was processed. If the emails are no where to be found, we’ll ask our email service to take a closer look.

In the meantime, you can fine all the assignments on the Commons. The Commons is also where you can ask questions and comment on others’ work, but that’s totally voluntary — lots of folks take the course but don’t use the Commons.
