Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi all!! I’m a new blogger! Looking for feedback on what I can do better. Purpose of my blogs surround the topic of wine 🍷 I recently joined Club W and wanted to document my thoughts on the wines they selected for me. I also want to talk about the beautiful vineyards I visit and most importantly budget friendly wines under $30. I am just a wine lover on a budget!

      1. Good information. I haven’t experienced any of these issues, yet, but it’s good to learn about this beforehand.

    1. I think your blog is perfect!
Everything is neat and clean. Easy to navigate and I know exactly what your blog is about just upon looking at it. Contents are informative and enjoyable to read. Keep up the great work 🙂

    2. Looks good, and important info that more women should know!

Just a personal preference (i’m a scientist and we love references/citations)…If you can add some more info about your personal qualifications, I think it will set you apart from the general bloggers that just write what they think without having any real training. E.g. where did you study physical therapy, is there a reason you chose to focus on women’s health?

    1. I love your blog!
The contents of your first post was great and I really like your header image. The only thing I’d suggest is if you made an “About” page so that viewers can know what your blog will be about and viewers can connect with you more personally. I see a lot of potential in your blog and so I’m going to give you a follow 🙂 It would be great if you could also take a look at my blog and give me some feedback! Anything is welcome 🙂 Cheers!

      1. Thank you so much for your advise! I will be sure to create an about page so that viewers can get a sense for who I am. I also really enjoyed your blog and am looking forward to following it!

    2. You have a good writing style, it held my attention (which is often easily lost!). Plus its a fantastic theme choice.

An ‘about’ or more info page like John mentioned below would be great addition 🙂 Reading your entry definitely made me wonder more about you, I think you’d really get people even more emotionally involved if you gave some extra details.

  4. Hey, I’m really new, and I want feedback on my blog. I post about the thoughts that I have, the difficulties and experiences that I have faced, and what I’ve learnt from them. The posts are kind of funny. Blogging has really helped me to just stay relaxed. i know this description makes it look like I have the most uninteresting blog ever. But, don’t judge a blog unless you’ve visited it, and maybe followed it.

  5. Hi swimmers!
I’m new to blogging … mostly what I do with my days is science. I’m writing about my upcoming move to Ethiopia to volunteer in a university. I want to use this blog to get the word out and encourage global scientific collabration.

After seeing so much great writing on wordpress, I’m feeling a little humbled! My blog is more aimed to the general public, so the writing is a little simpler and I try to keep things short (ish!).

    Would love some feedback! Ta!

    1. Hi Emily.

I read your latest blog post where you shared an article you had previously written.

I enjoyed your enthusiasm and down-to-earth style of writing.

My only recommendations are around layout.

You might want to consider using stock images to illustrate certain moments (e.g. the elastic band replacement) in your text; especially if it is a longer post.

I would also recommend experimenting with subheadings and using a different font size for these.

The one big take-home message from your piece was stepping out of comfort zones, exercising one’s independence-muscle and being a more well-rounded and able academic.

I hope you enjoy your trip.

      Warm regards, Fred.

      1. Hi Fred, thanks for your message!
Layout tips are absolutely welcome.. I’m new to blogging platforms, so still trying to get my head around everything. I’ll definitely have a play with some fonts and things like subheadings, that’s a great suggestion.

For the images, I haven’t quite figured out how to find good stock images under the creative commons agreement. Google search with the CC filter doesn’t give great results. Do you have any sites to recommend?

        Cheers, Em

  6. I started my site about a month ago as a running themed blog to primarily document my attempt and journey to run a full marathon in every US State. It took a while to figure out the platform and the blogging 101 class really helped – highly recommend it btw if you haven’t checked it out already.

I feel like my site is coming together but acknowledge that I have plenty to work on…for example, I need an interactive map that shows the states I have completed…I also need to add a decent table that lists all completed races (not just marathons), and I feel I could improve on my photo organization.

Appreciate any and all feedback, and if there are any runners in the group, would certainly be interested in sharing ideas and comments etc.

    1. Hi James

I admire you for setting such an inspiring goal!

I took a look at your Daily Post – Picture of the Week post (October 1, 2015).

Publishing pictures of your life and pictures that are captured from your perspective are powerful ways of sharing your world with blog readers.

I wanted to suggest that you consider making your pictures large or full-size. Then we can get more of the goodness! 😉

      Warm regards, Fred.

I love travel blogs as I am a traveler (in the process of emigrating) and keep my own travel blog. it would be great to find new blogs as I am in desperate need of fresh reading. I also am looking for guest posters so I can expand my site and get opinions and views from others.

  9. I’ve been blogging for about a year and have done a decent job of posting about twice a week. Unfortunately, my other responsibilities in life are sucking up my time, and I know that I’m not going to be able to keep posting at this pace. I put out a poll on my blog to see if people want me to post more about certain topics or if they are okay with me continuing to post about a myriad of topics. I’m curious – do all of you think blogs should be more focused on 1 topic or is it okay to write about a lot of different things? http://tryniakaufman.com/2015/10/04/poll-time-tell-me-what-you-like/

  10. So, um… I was thinking… Maybe you could come over to my blog sometime? We could, like, hangout and stuff. Maybe leave each other comments or whatever. Or make passionate love in a grassy field under the pale moonlight and gazing stars. Or something. Like, it’s totally cool if you don’t want to, I was just… y’know, whatevs. So, um… *shifts weight awkwardly* what do you think?
