Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Hi,
For the most part, I enjoyed your blog 🙂 The only thing I would suggest is if you didn’t put your About in a regular post but actually placed it in a menu bar. That way it’s easier for readers to access it and read all about you. It also makes your blog a lot more professional that way. Other than that, you’re doing great 🙂 I wish you the best of luck!

    1. Hello! Your blog is adorable, I love your writing style. It is very homey and sweet. Perfect for the kind of blog you seem to have in mind. I have a couple recommendations. First, left-justify your text. It hurts the eye to read text that is center-justified because your eye has to jump around to find the beginning of the line. Second, break up you paragraphs into ideas, and try to use some headers or bold text to give your content structure. This makes it look less intimidating than one long paragraph and people will be more excited to read it. Third, you could use you exclamation points a little more sparingly. It is great that you are excited about your blog and this is part of your style, maybe limit yourself to 2 or 3 exclamation points per paragraph. Also, you could use bullet points when you go to list things. This is especially help if you start blogging about home projects or recipes. It is much easier to digest than long paragraphs of instructions (much like this one, isn’t it overwhelming?). Other than that I love your concept and I’m sure your blog will be a wonderful way to share you new projects! Best of luck!

    1. Hello! We have the same theme! Yours looks great, I think your choice of images is working really well. One thing I would recommend layout-wise is to left-justify the text of your posts. Center-justify is very hard to read because your eye has to keep jumping around to find the beginning of the sentence. I would also recommend breaking up your text into some headings or sub-headings. Even if that means just making the first sentence of every few paragraphs bold and on a separate line. Try to divide up your story so people can skim through and see where it is going. Nice use of pics too! Best of luck!

  3. Hello! I am an Advertising Design student from Philadelphia studying abroad in London this semester & have started this blog partly as a class requirement but mostly for self-exploration and connecting with other bloggers. The concept is that I explore new places in London and Europe through pattern. I only have an intro and first post so far, but would love some feedback on which parts of the content were most relevant & interesting and which parts could be left out. I would love to give feedback to others as well. Thanks!

  4. Hi guys,

I would love to get some feedback about my new post ‘ Baked avocados with eggs’ and general feedback on my blog. I think I come across bland and not engaging which is very frustrating. I’m not sure how to inject some personality into my blog or maybe its the layout that sucks.

I’m not sure, I just know something doesn’t sit right.

    1. I loved it!
The baked avocados with eggs looked super delicious. I think you’re blog is neat and easy to navigate. The visuals definitely help as well. Perhaps what you’re missing is creating a menu bar for different categories. Including an About page would also help your viewers connect with you on a more personal level. Other than that, you’re doing great 🙂 Cheers!

      1. First of all, hi!
Second, I like your layout; I don’t think that something is wrong with it. It fits perfectly with what you do and write.
I don’t like avocado though, that’s for sure. But your recipes look amazingly delicious and are mouthwatering 🙂

    1. Love your header image. Your blog is clean and concise. Very appealing to the eyes. The visuals bring depth to your posts. Definitely enjoyed your blog 🙂 The only thing I would suggest is if you maybe added more categories? So that way it can organize your topics into folders. Other than that, I think you’re doing great 🙂

    1. I think you’re blog is awesome. Definitely appetizing haha. Your pictures are outstanding and love your content.
When you say 1000, do you mean followers or views? Because I’ve been blogging for almost a year and I don’t have nearly 1000 followers at all.

    1. I enjoyed it. Your content is great. Your personal reflection with God is very self-reflective. It’s very admirable. Even though your blog is quite new, I can already picture and see where you’re trying to go with it and I think it’ll be awesome. So I’m definitely going to give you a follow 🙂 I’m looking forward to more posts and anticipating the growth of your photos! It would be lovely if you could also take a look at my blog and give me any kind of feedback. For I am also still a growing blogger. Thanks! Cheers!

Blogging is all about experimenting. So it’s okay that you don’t know exactly what the theme will be about etc. As you blog, you’ll find your own voice and soon enough, it’ll come naturally to you. I wish you the best of luck 🙂

    1. Hi Laura

Ill admit I am not normally a fan of blog landing pages that are just images but you may have converted me, I really like the images you have used on your posts so far, they are colourful and really interesting pictures (are they yours).

I cannot really comment on content yet as I’ve yet to read much, but I will do so when I get some more time (I am at work at the mo)

I would say a great start though, if for the images alone.

    2. I am having a read now of your gender inequality post. May want to look the the gaps between paragraphs. Did you may post from word or something, sometimes that screws up the formatting, particularly in “view” mode on the editor
