Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I take my experiences from day to day and incorporate that into my blog. I also browse others for ideas, and I participate in many challenges which turn me onto some really great and inspiring things!
I also try to remember things from the past, things I want to do in the future, and so on. I think you might get the rough idea! 🙂

    2. I keep reminding myself that I’m doing it for a reason and that as you said in your own question, I love it. I would be writing anyway, why not put it online.
If you’re getting board, try something fresh and blog about that. Vary things to get yourself excited about blogging again.

    3. I enjoy being a jerk and proving people wrong. Tell me I can’t do something and I’ll do it in the most over-the-top way possible.
Except for running or anything to do with outdoors. Forget that.

  1. ATTENTION PHOTOGRAPHERS:
In this day and age we are all about digital and technology. I have recently attained a new camera (well, new to me) it is a Canon EOS Elan II. Yes film. 35mm film. Currently I use a simple Sony Digital camera (refer to my profile picture to left) and so far has made me happy with the shots I get. BUT….. I want to use a better camera with a better lens.
Who still uses their film camera for shooting, or do you use it more for special occasions/shoots? I’m still very much an amateur photographer, and would love to know tips from the pros!
    I appreciate all feedback!

    1. I have a film camera here that I have yet to test, but I’m also a digital photographer. I guess the compositions rules, etc. are the same. Feel free to message me if you want! The link to my Flickr page is also on my “About Me” page if you want to have a look at my work… 🙂

    1. you’ve certainly got a strong opening crisis to pull the reader in. I got a little lost in all the scenery and character description however.
I believe Torvan might have been the main character but perspective seemed to jump around so much that by the end of it I realised I was somewhat lost.
I think it might be worthwhile on focusing in on one character and how he sees the world. As a reader I love to have a character to latch onto who leads me through the book.
It would defiantly be worth a second read.

      1. Thank you very much for the feedback :] I wanted to be sure that I’ve established the world for the readers to visualize and understand, which caused me to rush character introductions, now that I’ve read it a few more times. For the next part I’ll do my best to be more focused on the main character, Yggdrasil, and try not to jump around as much. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
        ^.^

    2. Followed, will look into your writing later when I have more time. Did you know your widgets on the side and in the footer are the same? Might want to do something about that. And give more people the opportunity to follow you. =P

      1. I was actually curious if you could show me how to categorize my posts in the widgets? I know how to add widgets, but not how to put my writings in them. Any help would be most appreciated, I’m not very good at this.

    1. LOTR memes? I’m in!
I like your writing style, but I don’t know what feedback I’m to give on an award post. In my experience, they’re not as popular with readers (who wants to read about an award they didn’t win, I guess) but they’re really fun to do. You’ve made it enjoyable to read anyways, so good job!

    1. Hi! I really enjoyed your blog. Full of informative topics and categories. Your blog theme is neat and everything is simple enough to navigate. Keep up the great work. You’re off to a great start!

    1. You’re blog for the most part is nice. The only thing I would suggest is that you should make an “About me” page so that viewers can connect to you better. It helps personalize your blog and your contents. You’re off to a great start though. Keep it up!

  3. hey guys,
we just started a photography/ fashion blog and though the weekly challenge idea might seem like we’re a rip-off I swear it was an original idea and I found The Daily post after starting. Anyway, since we just started we’re looking for as much feedback/advice as we can get. There are only two posts up so far.

    thank you in advance 🙂

  4. Hello fellow bloggers! This is my first time entering the pool. I started blogging for about 8 months already, and through my journey I’ve met some interesting people along the way.
Up until then my post have all been short stories, poetry, and journal entries.
This semester in school, however, I started taking a photography class. It has been fun learning the fundamentals of my camera and trying to expand on what I’ve learned outside the classroom.
As a result, I opened a new photography tab on my blog. I’m still leaning and would like feedback or learn some neat photography tricks.
Drop by and tell me what you think.

    1. I really liked it. I think you’re off to a great start. I took a look at other posts and they are lovely. The reason why I took a look at your blog is because my blog falls into similar interests. I also write stories and take pictures. As a fellow writer, I’m going to give you a follow 🙂 Perhaps you could check out my blog as well? Any type of feedback is welcomed. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work! Cheers!

    1. It’s a bit hard to follow at the moment. Your posts are incredibly long; have you considered adding Read More tags? Your tagline is also humongous, too. Have you considered adding an About page to tell us more about you and the blog? It was also hard to find your widgets with the white icon on a light grey background, FYI. Not a bad start, though.

    1. I admire how honest and vulnerable you are. Definitely enjoyed your first post. I think some tips you could do, is update your “About me” page so that viewers can connect with you better. It also helps figuring out a theme you plan to base your blog on. As you experiment, you’ll eventually find your rhythm 🙂 Even though there isn’t much content on your blog yet, I’m going to give you a follow as a fellow Christian 🙂 Perhaps you could also take a look at my blog. I would love to hear your thoughts/feedback. Thanks! Best of luck to you!

      1. Thank you so much! Every tip helps. I think my theme will end up being completely random lessons in life and things that go through my mind everyday. I don’t think I will ever end up with a specific theme to base all of my writing on. Thanks for the advice! 🙂

    1. Clare, I really liked your header photo and text. “I contain multitudes.” How beautiful. I also really liked your About page. It gives me some great ideas for my own About page, which I’ve been struggling with. Happy blogging!

    2. The new look is great, though I did find your blog title and tagline to almost be lost in the color of the birds in the header. It doesn’t really bother me as I’m already familiar with both. Very pretty, though.

  6. Help!
For some reason, when I’m on the WP app, my newer posts do not display a “like” button. But when I’m on a PC, or on the Internet, the “like” button is there. This happened just recently, and I don’t know how to right it. If someone can help a sister out, I would be much obliged! 🙂

  7. Going to try to motivate myself to write more, although I always find my excuse being “Nobody reads this stuff anyway..”
Truth is writing should be for yourself, not for anyone else. Anyway, wish me luck!

    1. Hi Farrah! Many people READ blogs but FEW will comment or give feedback, thus writers such as us think “nobody reads this stuff anyway.” But also, defining your blog message and purpose is also important. Find out if you are writing for emptying your thoughts or you are posing though-provoking posts that will get readers to chime in? What’s your blog website address? I can check it out an give you some feedback if you’d like?

      1. Thank you for this comment. You are absolutely right about finding purpose. My purpose always shifts with life’s events, with my mood, and even the mood of the world as I see it.

  8. I want to get noticed. I’m on a thing called Poke Amino and I have 1500 followers and I told them all about the new website I made for all Pokemon news and to check it out. I also told them to start using a hashtag I made up to make my site more popular. Am I doing enough? #PokeFax

      1. First, and this is huge, please utilize spell check before publishing your posts. Please. This is one of the main things that can turn off a potential reader. I would also recommend breaking your giant text bricks into smaller, easier to read paragraphs. You should take the time to update the About page for your site as well.

Once you get the formatting the way you like it, consider adding widgets to allow people to follow the blog and such. My last blog post actually has some tips you might be interested in. Good luck.

  9. Hi everyone! I would love to have some feedback on my blog. I like to blog about books, my Peace Corps experience, traveling, life in the big city, and all things in between. Any feedback is much appreciated! I’d especially love to know what draws you into book reviews, as I’m thinking of adding that to my blog as well. https://readingbytrain.wordpress.com.

  10. I am looking for politically incorrect, not easily offended, not liberal or conservative, amoral members of my own species who are cool with my interest in the dark side of humanity, Dr. Ted Kaczynski’s writings, holocaust revisionism, true crime, and a an appreciation of nature is a plus. I really hate butthurt social justice ninnies so please don’t bother if you intend to try and get me to check my privilege. I already checked it and I assure you, it’s still there
