Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once! We tend to delete duplicate comments asking for feedback on the same post.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • When leaving comments, please remember not to add your blog’s url as your signature. It’s kinda spammy: after all, your handle links directly to your blog.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hi! I have just started my blog, but I am too scared to share it. Criticism is something I don’t handle well. Well I feel I am ready now… so if you could please let me know what you guys think of it. I will be utterly grateful!

    1. Looks pretty experimental right now, working on finding what you want to blog about? Consider creating an About page and think about what drives you. I’d rather not speculate on theme and design of the blog until you know what it is you want. Good luck!

    1. Sounds like Twilight, but I think that was kind of the goal. Unfortunately there are a lot of YA heroines who are basically useless. Stabby rip stab stab. Love your writing style, though. Looking at some of your other posts now.

You have a new follower. (Geeks unite!)

  2. Hi everyone, I’m trying to blog again after about 9 months (it’s like giving birth!).

I changed the theme and it took time (I’m slow) so instead of doing another one again I’m just keeping this new one . I’d love to hear your thoughts on how do i improve readability or presentation using this theme (Radcliffe)?

Also if you have time to read this post I’d love to hear your thoughts — https://jingsocampo.wordpress.com/2015/06/18/my-secret-life-as-a-witch/

My blog is a bit mixed — mostly reflections on daily life, I guess. Thank you and have a great day!

  3. hello! I am new in this wordpress world (which is best invention since water).

I was working in my site until last weekend, through a template I bought somewhere in the net, and it appears to be OK. I was happy with my work. Today, I tried to enter to my dashboard through //wp-admin, and there is an error message: “wrong password”. When I clicked on “lost password” to recover my “lost” password, and there is another error message: “There is no user registered with that email address”.

WT*!! help please. I don´t know what to do, I don’t know anything beyond basics.

    Thank you all.

    1. From the sound of it — the fact that your theme was purchased elsewhere on the web — it sounds like you might be using the self-hosted version of WordPress, whereas this is WordPress.com, the hosted platform. If that’s the case, your best bet for support would be here:
      https://wordpress.org/support/

If I misunderstood you and you do, in fact, have a site hosted here on WordPress.com, here’s the support page that has all the information on cases where you no longer can access your site:

  4. Help! I just published a post today. At the bottom was an ad attached by WordPress including questionable wedding photos and sexual related content. I’m getting complaints from my email followers. I know we can pay not to have ads, but I’m crying foul on this today. I don’t think anyone wants something like this added to their post. Any thoughts on how to issue a complaint? Anyone else experienced this?

    1. I’m sorry to hear you found an ad on your site offensive. Since this sounds like an ad that was placed there by our software (we run ads on WordPress.com sites to be able to offer free hosting to everyone), you can report any offensive ads to support@wordpress.com. Please include the address of the site (e.g., https://example.wordpress.com), the date/time the ad appeared, and, if you can, a screenshot of the ad.

    – I would appreciate your feedback on my blog in general.
    – I am looking for others who are interested in studying web development(It would be a great source of inspiration and guidance.
    – I have just found out that my blog is missing the “+ Follow” widget, I know it is because I have a hosted wordpress, but how would any wordpress users be able to follow my blog without the “+ Follow widget”?

  6. Hey everyone!

I’m extremely new to blogging. If you check out my page, I explain why I have decided to finally start. Despite all of the work that goes into it, I’m hoping and pretty confident that it will pay off in the end!

Feel free to take a look at my blog, Creating My Homestead. I just decided to delve into this yesterday morning, so it’s VERY bare right now. Please be kind and offer some suggestions. I would love to find some other bloggers to connect with!!!

    1. Hi Elina,

Just choose a few categories that interest you (such as travel or fashion etc) then you will get a list of blogs to choose from. You can follow any you wish and then the latest posts from those blogs will feature in your Reader tab.

      Best of luck

  8. It looks like the stats page no longer shows a list of “shares”, was that stat eliminated or just moved? If moved, where will I find it?

  11. Hi, I wonder if anyone has a few minutes to look at my blog, https://jwalkingin.wordpress.com/, and let me know what they think. We’ve been doing it for a month or so now since we left our old lives and left the UK.

I guess everyone has the same worries don’t they? Is anyone reading the blog or Is it actually interesting? Difficult to know really. So any advice would be most appreciated.

    Thanks
