Community Pool

The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I really like the simplicity of your blog and how you express your point in little snippets that really get the point across. I would only suggest is to add maybe pictures or more color in someway to make your blog more eye catching or appealing because I like the message you’re sending. Can’t wait to see where your blog goes! 🙂

    1. I really liked your post on your ex and you’re right about the night being the time where just everything comes to mind which often sucks. I also liked the fact of how you not only told your story but the lesson you got out of it. Keep up the great work!! Can’t wait to read more! 🙂

    1. I like it and don’t worry about it being an online diary! As you keep writing you’ll realize what style suits you, what you’re really passionate about so just keep writing like you are now! Try to fill out your about page because people (like me) often like knowing a little about the person before they read their blog to get an idea of who’s thoughts are they reading. 🙂

    1. I read your post on bean boozled and you were on point about it being so similar to the Harry potter scene in the first movie. I also don’t know why they were created honestly lol. Their just nasty sometimes. Anyways, your blog is really nice! It’s simple and interesting and I like where its going (being a novice as well). Can’t wait to see more! 😀

  2. Hi, my blog is there to help people (mainly teens) with their worries and their troubles. A big like an agony aunt, but a bit more friendly i guess… I would love it if you had a look on my page and followed and if you have any worries, just comment or contact me directly using the links provided on my page!!!! It would make my day if someone looked! Thanks if you do!

      1. I’m looking to get more readers and am not sure if my blog is catchy or not. I think I have lots of visuals and personal pics. But I’m not sure if I’m being funny or not. At times it’s ment to be humourous and about my ramblings and musings of an early riser with silly cats. Then again I’ve never known a cat that isn’t silly. So feedback would be appreciated. And yes I know I have to spell check more.

    1. Your review was well put together. I think adding a pic of each book you read and the ISBN number to find on book sites would help. The pic would make the book pop. Maybe adding tags or catagories for the different themes in each book. Other than YA you could have as an example “school life, teen romance, love, gay, ” and other themes that are in the book. I hope this helps or gives you some good ideas.

      1. When you write a blog on the right hand side there are places to put in tags and catagories and a main picture. Just look to the right of where you are typing your post to where all that official mumbo jumbo is and it’s all in there.

  3. Hello, everyone. There doesn’t seem to be a way to divide the “Blogs I Like” widget into categories such as food, challenges, etc. I haven’t come up with a work-around — hopefully one that would include the gravatars. Any ideas? Thanks.

  4. I’m trying really hard to drive more traffic to our site, but I am not having much luck. Can anyone offer any pointers? We have some lofty and specific goals for the summer, but it’s all going to depend on the elusive numbers game. Any advice, pointers, etc. would be most appreciated! The blog is about photography, day-trip style travel to out of the way places, family travel, and humor. It sounds like it’s unfocused, but it’s more specific than it sounds on the surface!
    Thanks!

    1. I love your blog and forgot that I was reading it for this Community Pool. I had read 3 of your stories before I remembered where I was. I think your blog is wonderfully writtnen. It’s funny and tells good stories that are fun to read. I like the pictures you take and post in your blog. I don’t think your doing anything wrong, it just takes forever to get readers.

    1. Hi, read a few of your blog enteries and it sounds like you love food, making and eating it. This blog is amusing about how your most memorable times are spent around food things, preparing and dinner party. I liked the pics you added to show your food stuff you made. Looked awesome. I didn’t check out your tags but maybe if you expand on your tags to even the rabling musings you have in the middle of your post. You might get more people to look and check it our. Maybe change your heading pic to something a little more colourful although I really did like the pic. Just throwing out ideas randomly. good luck with your blog.

      1. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Yes, it is sad that food is such a huge part of my life, but it is true, I love spending hours in the kitchen.

Thank you for your ideas, I will definitely add more tags and change the picture. Thank you so much, I really appreciate the suggestions/ideas.

    1. sounds like your off to a good start. The change between 17 and 18 is an odd stage for everyone. I’m not a child but I certainly don’t feel like an adult is very confusing. Relitives and older adults still call you a kid which then makes you puff your chest out and remind everyoen of your age and that your an adult now. Then the adults humor you about it and call you a pup in the adult world. I’ve been there and it’s very annoying to go through. I say to continue writing about this transition and your voyage to collage as well. You will have something to look back on and reflect in a few years and it will be like a journal of your life at this age. Keep it up. I might suggest to find picture to post and add lots of tag to draw more people. Good luck.

  5. Hi! I’m Patricia and I used to blog at Blogger. Last month though, after about three years at Blogger, I decided to give GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress service a try. I’ve since realized that the move was akin to creating a new blog altogether. My stats are low right now though I’ve since grown to love the versatility WordPress provides.

My URL is ideacrib.net. I blog about health, wellness, food, and travel every other Wednesday. It would be great if I could receive feedback about my site’s layout and content as well as the overall user experience. Thanks a lot. 🙂

  6. Happy Holidays everyone! I am posting this and would like some technical proofreading feedback as well as any insights and/or comments that you might have to offer. Please understand that this is (lightly) edited material that I copied from a Facebook post I wrote on the spur of the moment after waking up from an dream. Thank you all.

    1. Okay I read your book review and scanned your other posts. I would suggest that when you do a review on a book to have a picture of the book above or below the post on the book. I would also mention if it is fiction or non fiction and possible put the ISBN number so people can find the book online to check it out. I couldn’t tell if it was ficticious book or not to be honest unless I missed something. Put lots and lots of tags of words you use while describing the book or writing the blog post. By the way was this a Childrens or YA book? I hope my suggestions help. Good luck. 🙂
