What Makes You Tick as a Blogger?

Do you have a good blogging story? We’d love to hear it.

A powerful post you just read on someone else’s blog. A switch to a new theme that finally made your site come together. A quote about writing that pushed you to draft your next post.

We all experience these “a-ha” moments, big and small, all the time. Why not share them with the community? We’d love to feature more of our readers’ insights here on The Daily Post, so we just introduced a page where you can share your blogging stories with us.

The page is accessible through our site’s main menu — just hover over Postaday and click on Submit: My Inspiration.

Screen Shot 2014-11-07 at 10.16.30 AMWhat are we looking for?

  • A link to the last post that really moved and/or entertained you — with a few words on why you loved it so much.
  • A quote about writing or blogging that you found particularly powerful.
  • The story of your recent (or upcoming) blog makeover (whether in terms of design or content) — what prompted you to make a change? What did it (or will it) entail?
  • Your advice and insight on how to encourage interaction and discussion as a blog host.

Don’t be shy — share your story.

  1. I’ve had a desire to write since my early days in college (which was after some very passionate dislike of writing in highschool and prior). Having a blog has become an outlet for that need. I can’t point to anything in particular. I get an urge to write and I start typing about what’s on my mind at the time. I think it’s not much different than an artist with a creation in their mind that they need to bring into being.

  2. My Catholic faith. Most people don’t understand how thoroughly Scriptural it is. So I love to trace the Doctrines of the Catholic Church to the Scripture which is based upon it.

    Yes, I said that right. Most people also assume that Christian Doctrine is based upon Scripture. But the fact is that Jesus Christ did not write the Bible. He taught His Disciples and commanded them to Teach the World. It is the Disciples (read that Church) who then wrote the New Testament based upon the Teachings of Jesus Christ.

    When we understand this order of things, then Scripture begins to make much more sense. And the relationship to Catholic Doctrine jumps out of the pages of Scripture.

  3. Lately, Blogging U has been my inspiration.

    I become more proficient at using my humor;

    Added Contact Me page;

    Added Fresh off the Press and Blogs Others Enjoyed;

    Added a Slideshow Gallery

    Joined two Challenges and added the widgets…now there was an experience.

    I’d appreciate feedback on whether the blog’s sidebar looks too crowded. I put empty text widgets between image widgets, but they still look pretty close.

    Thanks to all the folks at Blogging U – both faculty and other bloggers. I’d become really bored with blogging and these past few months have reignited my joy with it.

    Thanks to all for all your reading!

  4. I am inspired mostly by music, sadness that i’ve felt or seen in other people, weirdness on any level… too normal topic are repulsive to me. I crave fresh air always and so I try to make my blog have that same fresh air effect on me, on other people. I could be inspired also by intense joy, by food, insects… basically anything that I can turn into a blast of fresh air.

  8. I basically blog when I have something to say and don’t feel like preaching to people as a friend, family member or coworker. The other times I blog is when I have something that I found fascinating o about my own growth or feel I need to share an experience.
