Community Pool

The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hello bloggers!

It is my first week of blogging and I would love some honest critique.

My post is about a personal journey that I am to improve my life through the law of attraction and practicing gratitude.

The aim is to transform all of my negative energy into positive and to hopefully inspire others to do the same.

If anyone finds this of interest please have a read or if you know of any blogs surrounding the subject I would love you to share them with me!

Here’s the link to my blog –

It’s a little plain, I am still familiarizing myself with this site 🙂 x

    1. Hi Kayleigh. Welcome to the blogosphere! Looks like you’re using your blog as an outlet & I’m sure with time you’ll connect with others of a similar mind. Congrats

  2. I’m almost certainly the lone wolf to say this but in my experience with community pool, bloggers aren’t at all interested in feedback on their writing. Rather, they just want someone to read their blog and/or bask in amateurish praises and empty platitudes. Silly and sad.

I have checked your blog and it looks interesting, as you have been to different places in Finland. I would change either the background picture (not because of the picture which is really nice, the problem os the colour that makes it difficult to read the post) or the colour of the font you use.
I like you add pictures in every post, and they look great.

  6. I’ve been on a rare art streak. This feeling is new to me and I love that I’m able to put simple ideas on paper these past couple of weeks even though I should be busy with school. I hope some of you can check out my blog. I try to write poetry though but I haven’t written in quite some time. Still lacking inspiration on that area. Really really appreciate any feedback! Love always, Cath 😉

  7. Hello everyone. I updated my blog after kind suggestions by bloggers from the community pool last week. I made an about page only last week. Can someone comment on my ‘about’ page? And also ‘about me’ on my gravatar profile? And feel free to mention any other glitch you notice on my blog.

I really appreciate you taking your time to visit my blog. Thank you! 🙂

    1. Minhaz, your poetry is gorgeous and I loved your about me section. I, too, wanted to thank you for sharing your poetry with the world. It is not easy to open one’s heart in this way! One quick thing that I noticed in your about me section—you said, “what our thoughts are…” and I think “what are our thoughts…” would be a bit better? Thank you again for sharing! Cheers!

And you flatter me by your beautiful comment. You made my day. Thanks a lot 🙂

      2. We all do it! Truly your poetry reminded me of why I love to write. Words are beautiful and you use them well. Will you check out my blog? I feel as though it is missing something in general and I’m not quite sure what! Having read yours, I fully trust your judgement 🙂 http:throughleavesoverbridges.wordpress.com

      3. India, this is a truly beautiful blog. It is neat and looks lovely.
I find your poetry utterly stunning. Your thoughts are mature and you present them in a vivid flow of words. And yes, it is neat. That is one of the many best things in your writing.
About page of your blog is smart. Instead of telling about yourself, you speak about what you believe in. “Our beliefs define us the best.” And you tell that without using words. You just prove it.
Now, let me be honest dear. I am not very experienced in the universe of blogging. You most certainly overrate me.:-) No, complains though;-)
Otherwise, I am looking forward to enjoy reading your art.
Thank you for sharing, India. Keep writing.
        Have a nice day.

      4. I’m stunned. What a kind response! Thank you! You’ve made my day as well! I look forward to following your blog and learning from you as well. I love the simple beauty in your poetry. I wouldn’t dream of thinking I overrate you 🙂 we are two dreamers aligned in our way! Here’s to never letting poetry and a love for written words die!

      5. 🙂
I just noticed after I replied to you, that you don’t have a display image for your blog. That image is important because it shows as thumbnail when someone bookmarks your site.
Also, you can link your social media and other sites with your blog.
These things don’t matter much, but thought to mention them to you if you might have missed them.

  8. Hey everyone! I’m a relatively new blog, and would totally appreciate any feedback about anything, from writing style to the topics to the blog format! Please keep in mind that I am currently using the free WordPress themes and what not and don’t have too much intention to upgrade to any paid features (for a little while, anyways)

    My URL is: http://thirdwheelingaroundtheworld.wordpress.com/

Thanks in advance! I look forward to all your feedback 🙂

    1. Hi Shelby. My first suggestion would be to add some imagery to your posts-pictures, graphics & the like. You also might want to add a photo of yourself in your about page (if you feel comfortable with it) as readers like to have an idea of whom they’re reading. Just a thought

  10. Hey Bloggers!.. Im like super new as in this is my first 72 hours of having a blog. I put up 3 posts so far about 3 of my fav restaurants. Sort of like a food critic concept. Would love if anyone has the time to choose one of the 3 food recommendations and let me know if it holds your attention? Or is it too wordy?

    1. I agree with RosieRose, I absolutely adore the layout. They are definitely not too wordy, in fact a little more description of the places, the ambiance, what the dishes taste like might be good. In general I thought they were fun and well written and definitely made me hungry! 🙂

    1. I like the look. I think it’s clean and pretty, it reminds me of spring for some reason :p The only thing I found is that I have a harder time reading things when they’re all centered, just because it’s not the normal structure. However I think having it centered is a good choice for the look of your blog, so in the long run I think it might be better and it’s probably only a personal hangup anyway.

    1. I think you are using it well as an outlet, and a good one to boot. I like your poetry. My only thought on you ‘thought’ blogs was that I would like a little more. I have a tendency to run long (as you can tell) but I felt yours was a little short, I wanted to read more on your destiny blog that wasn’t there. Good nonetheless though. Also I like the look you chose. 🙂

      1. You’re completely right about that. I kind of fell short because it was that kind of day where words just escape you. But I will add more! And id love your take on that post as well. As in what do you believe.

        And thank you! 🙂

What I think you should add is an about me page, though. I know it’s tough to describe yourself, but try your best.
