  1. I need someone to look at my overall blog; I want it to be about me and teaching and some things in which I’m interested, but I worry that my writing style and post types aren’t consistent. Any input is appreciated!

      1. Yes just what we need more people interfering in they way we write, spells, speak. Language changes, evolves even more now with the internet, diffrent cultures mixing styles of writing, speaking, introduction of slang in music use in mobile/cell phones.
I will write how I wish, I am 50 years old I am not going to change even if I wanted to. Over the years I have written lengthly evaluation reports on children for Social Services, Medical Profession and Educational Services using very big words, many in a paragraph. Maybe the grammar wasn’t great but they stopped a child being put back with violent parents, had children seen by child psychologists. Not once did any of these professionals said ‘Hey your grammar is crap’ so if none of my highly educated peers didn’t complain, I certainly won’t listen to complete strangers in the middle of a virtual world. Using the word Nazi in this context or any is an insult to all the millions who died under Nazi rule. Thank you.

    1. Design-wise, I think it might be better without the left-hand column of round thinggies: they don’t do much more than make it hard to read the text over ’em. And personally I find that the column is too ‘busy’, as they say.
Content-wise, I think you should never apologise for anything in your blog – especially about swearing. If you want to swear, do, and like-minded readers won’t worry about it; those who are offended will not be mollified by your apologising.
And anyway: your subject matter will’ve scared ’em off long since! [grin]

    1. you need an about page, or if you do have one I’d suggest putting it in the black bar at the top of your blog. About pages are the first or second things I look at on any website blog or not.

      1. Maybe a page about your mission statement with links to those other about pages? Your home page has an error message that says page not found so when I initially look at you website I don’t know what it’s about.

  2. Hey all! I’ve posted here before about helping think of a blog name, and I’m back. I think I’ve better found my niche. I thought I would write strictly about pop culture, but it’s really evolved into a personal blog. Does anyone have any name ideas looking at my posts?

    1. I love your about page its really informative and gives me fantastic context for blog posts. I enjoy the creative writing posts a lot. The only thing I’d change is your home page. Maybe this is a personal preference but I like it when I can read a few lines of a post before I click to read the whole thing. I’m a young bloger too I’d really like your opinion on my blog the url is lovedontknowwhatdistanceis.wordpress.com

      1. Well, if you want people to really concentrate on your writing (I see you incorporate a lot of images in your posts) then maybe you should consider another layout? Like you said, the images draw you in. Whatever makes you happy!

    2. I really like your blog! If you’re looking for a theme that shows a nice photo plus a snippet of text there’s always Expound, Untitled, Visual, Suburbia, or The Columnist. They all look pretty great when setup properly!

  4. Not sure if I can pita this on here but I’m considering moving to a self hosted site. I intend to pay and use the guided transfer so I don’t lose followers or stats and so I don’t mess up and lose posts.
Now my problem is that I have my own domain at WP.com. I have searched forums and guidance pages both on manually going self hosted and using guidesd transfer and cannot find an answer so please don’t direct me to one of those pages.
How do I transfer my own domain to another host? Probably bluehost. I have read I need some sort of code.
When I transfer the domain what happens to my wordpress account? Will it revert back to http://bizzimummy.wordpress.com whilst waiting for guided transfer to transfer wordpress?
Or can the guided transfer people transfer my domain for me plus all my wordpress account?
    Confused and advice appreciated

    1. I think in this post it’s just the right balance. And even if it were longer – it’s just so funny, you keep asking yourself what this is all about and where it’s going to end – I would have read until the end!

  7. I think my blog is visually appealing, but not sure why I’m not getting so many followers. Is it just because it’s a book review blog and there are so many blogs of that type in cyberspace? Just started the blog Nov. 1.

  9. I was hoping somebody could give my blog a look and suggest the best way for me to include my other contact details? E.g. Twitter, YouTube and my workout journal on another website, I understand there are widgets for twitter which i have, and some ones made by other people for YouTube, but I dont know how to include these? How do people suggest I post these links so others see them regularly? 🙂 Thanks! Sam

  10. I started a blog few weeks ago. I haven’t started the second post yet. But if someone could read my blog and provide suggestions on page design, content and structure it would surely help me.

    1. I think you have a good blog concept and your first post is structured well. Although the content doesn’t match your name – Mumbai to Manhattan. I’d suggest starting something on that topic! You’ve picked a good theme to highlight your content but I would also suggest changing the background to a nice photo that matches your topic. 🙂

  11. I’ve just started my first ever blog!!! I’m using it as an outlet for me so I can start to deal with issues. I also want to use it as an outlet to help others whom are going through the sane!! Any suggestions how I can get it out there would be greatly appreciated. Facebook and Twitter is not an option for me. It’s called depression, my mum and me!! http://finallystrongenoughtoforgive.wordpress.com/

    1. That’s an excellent reason to start blogging! I suggest making an about page so that anyone who does stop by gets an idea of who you are and what the blog is about.
